Supporting members by providing a professional working environment, a range of equipment and expert technical support. Our communal studios allows members to grow within a community of makers and members of all levels are challenged to progress through regular shows. This strong sense of community will also extend to a range of classes.

What a weekend it was! A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by - it was amazing to see so many people show up in support of ceramics and local makers! 🙏 The quality and range of work on display was incredible and we are forever in awe of our talented makers. 🤍

To our staff, members and everyone who helped out, we couldn’t have done it without you! Thanks for all your hard work ⭐⭐⭐

We’re also so proud to have raised £1,265 for ! This money will help get clay into the hands of more young people so a huge thank you to everyone for helping us achieve this. ✊

Meet the Maker 👋

This beautiful work was made by , who’s been taking courses at The Kiln Rooms for a couple of years! Growing up in Stoke-on-Trent, surrounded by kilns and clay, Rebecca developed an early connection to the material and now makes skilful, traditional pieces that draw inspiration from Staffordshire slipware, the Leach tradition, and buried medieval villages and plough lines. Rebecca’s work feels honest and gestural, with a strong sense of functionality. We love the muted colour palette that’s been used and these humble, yet inviting, shapes.

‘I feel like I’m continuously learning and evolving, with special thanks to our wonderful course leader Justin (). The courses have offered me just enough time and oversight to develop as a maker before I can make time for full membership.’ - Rebecca

It’s always a joy to see our students progress and gain confidence as makers. Our courses are a great starting point for people who want to learn about ceramics, experiment with the material and figure out their style and favourite ways of making.

We love these pieces by some of our talented members... Sun-kissed and colourful, they capture the essence of summer perfectly ♡

While ceramics look even more beautiful in the sunlight, warmer weather can make a maker’s time in the studio a little more interesting... Clay is a natural material, and the water that helps keep it flexible evaporates faster in the heat. Sometimes that’s helpful (your pieces are kiln ready more quickly) but you have to watch carefully to prevent them from drying too quickly.

Everyday with clay is different and we love working with a material that keeps us on our toes and challenges us to adapt!

Already enrolled in one of our courses? We offer drop-in sessions to provide makers with more time, and the opportunity to create work slightly more independently.

There’s no teacher, but a technician is always on hand and you’ll be working amongst a supportive community of fellow makers. This extra time is the perfect opportunity to prepare for membership, and get used to problem-solving on your own... (clay is a magical material but it definitely can be temperamental 😉)

The countdown begins... less than 1 week until The Kiln Rooms Festival opens 🔥

All of these beautiful pieces were made by TKR staff... we're so lucky to have such a talented team! Want to see more incredible work like this (and maybe even take a piece home)? Join us for our Members Sale: kicking off next Thursday evening, from 5pm - 8pm. We'll be putting on free drinks for our opening night, come celebrate 10 years of The Kiln Rooms with us! 🥂
