🐛 THE TRANSFORMATION STATION 🦋

This July, Kiley and guest musician Darcie Snider performed a new 10-minute show combining miniature puppets, lambé lambé style puppetry, and a giant puppet brought to life by the crowd!

Created by Sophie and Kiley on their artistic retreat in Canada this spring, this show was a culmination of some of OTM's long-standing creative interests! We are grateful to Theatre SKAM for creating and sustaining SKAMpede theatre festival where this show was performed. And fun fact for our fans: our company has performed in SKAMpede twice before - In Orbit (2021) and Pieces of the Moon (2018)!

We love this all-ages show about growth (emotional and physical!), the plants and insects in our coastal ecosystem, and fun!! We hope to perform it again soon 🐛💞🦋

"Gentles, perchance you wonder at this show;
But wonder on, till truth make all things plain.
This man is Pyramus, if you would know;
This beauteous lady Thisbe is certain."

Some behind the scenes shots of the making of (and pranks using) our STARS!! Oh Pyramus, oh Thisbe. How special you are to us :')

Made using techniques Sophie recently learned during her semester at the school of Curious School of Puppetry in London!

Puppeteered by Jenny Robinson and Levi Jennings for Greater Victoria Shakespeare Festival A Midsummer Night's Dream.

In this same interlude it doth befall
That I, one Snout by name, present a wall !!

Swipe through to see the making of this paper maché monstrosity! And some behind the scenes giggles from Sophie and Kiley at every stage of the process 🩷

The talent of Carly Young (Snout, Pease-Blossom) brings this puppet to life in a way we are certain you've never seen a Wall act before 😉

One week left to catch A Midsummer Night's Dream! Tickets in our bio 🌜

A new show created by Sophie and Kiley is on this weekend at SKAMpede annual outdoor theatre festival! Hosted by Theatre SKAM, you can catch us at Site 3 (under the Bay Street Bridge!) on the Central Tour. Tickets are available in person at Regatta Point Park, Victoria BC, the tour hub and departure location.

Sophie and Kiley were able to create this show while on retreat in Nanoose Bay this spring, and Kiley is happy to be performing it with the musical talent of Darcie Snider. We are thrilled to have our site managed by our friend Maddy over at Alectoria Productions ✨.

The Transformation Station is a show for all ages featuring small puppets, big puppets(!), and Lambe Lambe puppetry - a miniature puppet experience for two viewers at a time, inspired by the magnificent Nina Vogel. Come and share in this magical 10 minute show exploring transformation in the bug world on many different scales 🐛✨️

What an honour and a privilege for Sophie to puppeteer at the to celebrate the 100th birthday of . It was truly a dream come true to being a gorilla to life in front of an audience of 5000, including David himself! What a meaningful night celebrating one of the most remarkable champions of the natural world. Watch the full 90 minute special on BBC!

Graduated puppet school!! I’m officially a puppet!!

Having an absurdly good time continuing to pursue this art form, despite all the odds.

The Curious School of Puppetry has rewired my brain in the best possible way. Learning from over a dozen incredible tutors, working with a cohort of creatives (friends? Colleagues? Collaborators?!) from all over the world, and pushing myself to constantly generate new ideas, new movements, and new ridiculous moments has been the experience of a lifetime.

I can’t wait to take the beautiful work we’ve done here and have it inform my puppetry, my theatre making, and my writing.

What a blessing to turn the inanimate animate, and strangers into friends 🥹

Profound gratitude. Thanks for all the giggles and gasps.

For anyone in the professional world: consider me HIGHLY EMPLOYABLE (and frighteningly available).

Sophie x
