Every April, people gather on the streets across Thailand to celebrate the Songkran festival ✨ the Thai New Year. 🇹🇭💦
Traditionally, Songkran is about renewal. People visit temples, pour water over Buddha statues, and gently pour water over the hands of elders as a sign of respect and blessing for the year ahead.
But today… it looks a little different.
The streets transform into giant water fights. Buckets, water guns, music, dancing, and thousands of people celebrating together under the Thai sun. What began as a symbolic cleansing has become one of the most joyful celebrations I’ve ever experienced.
For the past few years, I’ve been lucky enough to celebrate Thai New Year here, and it’s become something really dear to my heart. There’s something special about the energy, the smiles from strangers, and the feeling that everyone is celebrating a fresh start together.
If you ever get the chance to experience Songkran in Thailand, I highly recommend it.
Just be prepared to get completely soaked. 💦
Would you visit Thailand during Songkran? 💦🔫
