Based in the iconic Covent Garden theatre, it is renowned for its outstanding performances of both traditional opera as well as commissioning new works by today’s leading opera composers such as Harrison Birtwistle, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Thomas Ades. The Royal Ballet, led by Director Kevin O’Hare, is Britain’s largest ballet company. The Company has a wide-ranging repertory showcasing the great classical ballets, heritage works from Founder Choreographer Frederick Ashton and Principal Choreographer Kenneth MacMillan, as well as new works by the foremost choreographers of today. Access is a key issue for the Company and its work is seen not just at the Royal Opera House but via televised and cinematic performances, outdoor Big Screen performances, international touring and through the work of the Company’s Education Department.

When movement meets music 🎻

Royal Ballet Principal Steven McRae and Principal Guest Concert Master Vasko Vassilev are in rehearsals for The McRae/Vassilev Project, a new creation inspired by the music of Paganini.

Directed by Natalie Abrahami, the production brings together two performers renowned for their mastery of dance and music.

Earlier this summer, the Jette Parker Artists Summer Performance brought together the exceptional artists of our 2025/26 cohort for a celebration of a year’s artistic growth and achievement.

Performing a rich programme spanning beloved masterpieces and rarely performed works, the artists showcased the versatility and talent that defines the Jette Parker Artists Programme.

28 years in the making 🩰

Last night, Royal Ballet Principal Marianela Nuñez opened Marianela – Timeless, a personally curated programme celebrating the Company that has been her home for 28 years.

Bringing together one-act ballets from The Royal Ballet’s repertory and a selection of classic divertissements, Marianela was joined by fellow Company dancers, friends and colleagues in an evening that reflects the remarkable career she has built on our Main Stage.
