English National Opera is founded on the belief that opera of the highest quality should be accessible to everyone. We forge ground-breaking collaborations across art forms, and our world-class productions inspire, surprise, and captivate. We sing in English. We believe that singing in our own language connects the performers and the audience to the drama onstage, and enhances the experience for a

ll. We bring our productions to the widest possible audience, whether at the London Coliseum, nationally or internationally. We make our work accessible by offering a large proportion of tickets at affordable prices, and by distributing it widely on screen and via digital media. We nurture talent across the entire company, whether on-stage, backstage, or in the pit. We provide a platform for young singers to develop global careers. We tell the world's most timeless stories, unforgettably.

⚡ Did you know: there are 6 interludes in Peter Grimes (pieces that are played between the scenes of the opera). These pieces create the atmosphere of the village and foreshadow events that are to come. After the premiere in 1945, Britten took four of them to make a standalone orchestral suite entitled ‘Four Sea Interludes’ ⚓

We’ve been hard at work preparing for the Season. Imagine that quick tidy of your flat before guests arrive, but your home is the west end’s largest theatre 🙃 We’ve thought about everything, from large-scale maintenance of the theatre to the tiny details right under your nose.

Here’s a little look at our Scenic Artist painstakingly restoring each tiny tile of the entrance floor mosaic. This Roman-style mosaic was laid between 1903 and 1904 but was then covered by carpet in the 60s. In recent years we restored it to its majesty, continuing to show it the love it deserves year on year.

May I humbly invite you to give a little listen to Rhapsody for Piano & Orchestra. Opens with a 'happy' version of Rach 3, at 9:15 is a 'Hebrew' type tune which quickly turns into Star Wars, at 13:40 I was really influenced by Oriental music, at 19:00 is light Musical Theatre which climaxes into a cute little kitten, and at 22:55 is a Greek dance which becomes faster and faster.. Hope you enjoy!
What an absolute joke that this has been cancelled today within 80mins of curtain up! We arrived at the venue after a 2.15hr journey, sat in the queue for thirty minutes only to then be told its cancelled!! Getting your money back is not good enough when people have spent time and money getting to the venue! This was my mums 70th birthday present and now we’re faced with the long journey home...for nothing! Bad communication and late decision making. 😡😡😡
Have you seen the marvellous event? It is on Tuesday 29th Sept and is not to be missed if you love Opera you will love Claire Lees soprano with Dylan Perez accompanying her from 7.30pm.

They called this Skegness born woman the fastest singer in the Garden.

From her dressing room, opera star Anne Pashley nervously rehearses what she is going to say after the show to someone who knew her from her previous career as a sprinter. Pashley was born in Skegness and lived there until the age of fourteen.
