CDMT’s Recognised Awards are a set of industry-designed principles for part-time and pre-vocational performing arts schools and teachers. Taking part in the scheme signifies a dedication to safe and professional practice, the expectations for which correspond directly with the Department for Education’s 'Out-of-school settings: safeguarding guidance for providers’.

Participants in the scheme benefit from a support package, including personalised certificates, use of the Awards logos and complimentary promotional materials. Plus, all participants are added to our online database of Recognised providers.

CDMT's (the Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre) Recognised Awards Scheme is for schools and teachers working in the pre-vocational performing arts sector, wishing to demonstrate their commitment to upholding safe and professional standards of practice in dance, drama, music and musical theatre.

The requirements for the scheme corresponds with the Department for Education's 'Out of School Settings: Safeguarding guidance for providers'.

This guidance covers advice on what policies and procedures providers should have in place for:
• Health and safety
• Safeguarding and child protection
• Staff suitability
• Governance
