Check in with yourself halfway through the year. 👇

The summer solstice isn’t just the start of a new season. It also falls at the midpoint in the year when we already feel more reflective about what has happened and what is to come.

Why not lean in and use this time to check in with yourself so you can be intentional about the next few months?

This doesn’t have to include anything elaborate. Sitting down with your crystal singing bowls is a great way to reflect.

The vibrations clear the mind of day-to-day clutter and slow down the brain waves, connecting you with your unconscious, intuition and creative thinking.

Pick a couple of bowls you feel drawn to. Ask yourself 1-3 questions. Then play.

Let the mind meditate and wander so realisations can come to you naturally. You might want to do this a couple of times to go deeper.

Here are 3 questions to get you started:

🌟 What are you proudest of so far this year?

🌟 What are you grateful for learning?

🌟 What do you feel excited about exploring further?

Save this for your summer solstice celebrations this weekend or whenever you’d like to take a moment to reflect.

What do you need to bring with you when running a sound bath? 🎶

Of course, you need to bring your crystal singing bowls and any other instruments you want to play to build the soundscape.

Over the years, I’ve curated a checklist that includes things which help me feel comfortable and present and create a relaxing and immersive experience for the attendees.

I think about the experience from when people first arrive to when they leave, hopefully feeling calmer and more connected.

I know to hold space in the way I want to, I need to be in the right energy too. Crystal singing bowls pick up on energy! So there are a few things I bring to make my life easier.

I highlight 6 of the things on this list that I wish I had known about sooner because I didn’t realise how valuable they were when I first started playing in the new blog on the I Know This Girl website.

Let me know, is there anything else you’d add to this list? I’d love to hear about your favourite things to bring to a sound bath.

I bought half moon shaped, square and round ones and I still couldn’t find the right fit…

The more you play crystal singing bowls, the more you realise how important having a comfortable seat is! Meditation cushions would seem like the obvious choice but over the years, I’ve struggled to find the right cushion. I’ve left plenty of sound baths feeling sore.

When I decided to create my own cushion specifically for sound practitioners, I tried so many different cushions to figure out what was missing.

What I discovered was that most practitioner cushions are filled with buckwheat hulls and are double the height of the one I ended up developing.

This makes them nice and strong which is great for keeping your spine straight for meditation, but that’s not what us sound practitioners need. We lean in all directions to reach our bowls and find our flow.

We need to be as close to the floor as possible while still feeling supported and we need flexibility as we move throughout the sound bath.

So I tried and tested over 8 types of foam until I found one that felt right while playing crystal singing bowls. I’m so proud of the final design! 💕

💫 The sound practitioner cushion I developed is available now in the I Know This Girl shop.

A quick care guide for crystal singing bowls. 👉 (Save this for future reference!)

The quartz crystal mineral used to make crystal singing bowls looks beautiful, sounds amazing and has incredible effects on us, mind, body and soul.

It does need to be cared for in a certain way to prevent damage and maintain these instruments over time.

I explain the do’s and don'ts in the carousel so you know how to clean, transport and store your crystal singing bowls.

Build your confidence and connect with your bowls in a mentorship session. 💕

Thank you Annabel for your lovely review! I’m so glad you found our session useful.

I love getting to work with people with all kinds of experience in sound healing. As well as foundation workshops for beginners, I offer mentorship sessions for people who already have a level of knowledge and training but have found themselves stuck.

This could be because…

They aren’t sure about their playing technique.
They are nervous about preparing to host their first sound bath.
They feel out of practice and a bit disconnected from their bowls.

A mentorship session is a time for you to use however you find helpful so you can move forward with your crystal singing bowls. I’m here to answer questions about sound healing, working as a practitioner and bringing healing vibrations into your life.

💫 Book a mentorship session on the workshop page of the I Know This Girl website: https://www.iknowthisgirl.co.uk/singing-bowl-workshop

Yes, sound baths are so relaxing that you might fall asleep! 💤

This is totally normal because what happens to the brain during a sound bath is the same as when you are winding down for sleep.

Your brain waves change from being alert (beta waves) to the slower waves of relaxation (alpha) to the even slower waves of sleep (theta) and then deep sleep (delta).

🎶 This happens because of the sound waves from the crystal singing bowls. Your brain waves synchronise with them, allowing you to relax without even trying.

You might fall asleep for most of the session. Or you might drift in and out of consciousness as you experience the different frequencies of crystal singing bowls.

Whether you are feeling really alert or super sleepy, you’ll benefit from the sound bath because the body absorbs the vibrations. You don’t need to be paying attention for your brain and body to respond.

💫 Everyone responds differently because we each have a unique frequency. I explain more about this and share other examples of how we can respond to healing vibrations in the new blog on the I Know This Girl website.

What will you bring to the next sound bath you host? I have a few recommendations…

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed experimenting with different accessories and rituals to create sound baths that feel aligned with me and provide a supportive environment for participants. Here are a few things to try.

💫 For sitting comfortably throughout the session, bring our new sound meditation cushion. I designed this for sound practitioners, ensuring it adapts to your movement as you lean forward to play the bowls. It’s the most supportive cushion I’ve ever tried.

💫 Add dimension to your soundscape by using chimes and shakers alongside your singing bowls. They add grounding, softness and variation. Chimes are great for bringing people back to alertness at the end of a relaxing session.

💫 Create a multi-sensory experience by burning incense or Palo Santo during your sound bath. I have dishes for both in the I Know This Girl shop. These are handmade artisanal pieces with a subtle speckled glaze that aligns with the gentle balance of your session.

💫 If you would like to provide or recommend eye masks to aid participants in reaching relaxation and immersing themselves in the experience, we have a gorgeous cotton mask in the shop too. It comes with a travel bag so it’s perfect for sound baths.
