Part of the healed upper sleeve was done by another artist.

This session was focused on building the lower half of the sleeve. Most of the armour was drawn freehand directly on the arm to create a natural flow and fit the shape of the existing project.

Some areas were intentionally left open, as the sleeve is still in progress and will be expanded in future sessions.

This post is mainly to show how cover-ups on very dark and relatively fresh tattoos can realistically look without laser removal.

The client specifically wanted a lion cover-up and decided not to do laser removal first. We discussed from the beginning that some parts of the old tattoo could still slightly show through after healing, especially with something this dark and saturated.

This was honestly one of the hardest cover-ups I’ve done recently because the old tattoo was still quite new, very dark, and heavily packed with black ink.

These photos show:
• the original tattoo
• healed result after the first session
• fresh result after the second session

There will still be one more correction session after full healing. We’ll wait around 2 months for the skin to fully recover before trying to soften some of the remaining dark areas even more.

I’m posting this because I want people to see realistic results of this kind of cover-up.
