❗️New Opportunity❗️

Stanley Picker Gallery and Dorich House Museum are seeking three new members to join their Advisory Group in December 2026 - one member of Kingston University staff and two external members. These appointments will be for an initial 4-year term, in time to help support and celebrate the 30thanniversary of Stanley Picker Gallery in 2027.

We are seeking specific expertise to support our activities and ambitions in the following areas:

* Fundraising and Development
* Diversity and Inclusion
* PR & Marketing

Our Gallery & Museum Advisory Group meets four times a year. The group comprises an equal balance of Kingston University staff and external members with a relevant range of expertise, skills and duties to oversee and advise on the strategic development of our two venues and support our ambitions. Appointments to the Advisory Group are voluntary and made for an initial period of four years.

We are committed to working ambitiously, innovatively, and inclusively to foster equality and diversity across our activities and operations. We strongly encourage participation from all protected characteristics to achieve fairness of opportunity for all. We acknowledge our environmental responsibility and will reduce our impact on the planet through transforming our working practices.

We are proactively seeking to improve the diversity of our Advisory Group membership and welcome applications from individuals who are currently underrepresented in the arts and heritage sectors, including those from Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds, those who face socio-economic barriers, those who identify as LGBTQ+, and those with disabilities.

Thank you to all those who came to our Summer Garden Party on Saturday!

We’re thankful that the weather was kind to us and set the scene for a beautiful day. Thank you also to the students from KingstonUniMusic who were incredible with their live performances throughout the afternoon!

We’re so grateful at Dorich House Museum to be surrounded by a supportive community both from within Kingston University and from the wider local area. To see people from all these different areas here on one day feels very special. We look forward to seeing you all back again!

Finally, congratulations to .cope_art for being selected as the winner of the 2026 REMET Art Prize for her work ‘Your Armchair’, and thank you to all of the other shortlisted artists who exhibited their work from , and to Remet Art and AB Foundry for making the art prize possible. 🏆

‼️ Now Showing at Dorich House Museum ‼️

Our latest exhibition ‘Undiminished: Rebalancing the female narrative of menopause’ is now on display in the modelling studio!

As both a scientist and artist, Dr Francesca Arrigoni-Halliday has embarked on an extended research project that explores menopause through the lens of cellular biology, historical symbolism, and personal experience. The exhibition explores this powerful and often misunderstood stage of life, bridging women’s health, science communication, and visual storytelling.

The works on display at Dorich House Museum consist of an illustrated manuscript, a chandelier, and stained-glass windows, each a distinct yet interconnected vehicle for inquiry. Together they explore menopause through material, metaphor, and visibility.

The exhibition will be on display until Saturday 25th July. Make sure not to miss it!

Dorich House Museum is very excited to present the work of Dr Francesca Arrigoni-Halliday in an exhibition exploring menopause, bridging women’s health, science communication, and visual storytelling.

As both a scientist and an artist, Francesca has embarked on an extended research project that explores menopause through the lens of cellular biology, historical symbolism, and personal experience.

This exhibition will comprise of an illustrated manuscript, a chandelier, and stained glass windows, each a distinct yet interconnected vehicle for inquiry. Together they explore menopause through material, metaphor, and visibility.

The exhibition will be on display in our first floor modelling studio and free to view during our normal opening times.

Dr Francesca Arrigoni-Halliday is an Associate Professor in Physiology and Pharmacology at and an illustrator, having completed the MA Illustration at .school.of.art

The sun is out for the first weekend of Kingston Artists Open Studios . It’s a great opportunity to visit talented local artists in their studios and see the variety of work from ceramics to printmaking, photography and sculpture.
This year we are delighted to be hosting artist Anna Bingham who is exhibiting her ceramics and paintings in our first floor studio. Anna will be at Dorich House this Saturday and next, demonstrating her ceramic sculptural technique, so do drop by and meet Anna while on the KAOS artists studio trail.
KAOS runs 9-10 May and 16-17 May.
Dorich House Museum is open Thursday - Saturday and Anna’s work available to see on these days over the next 2 weeks.

The REMET Art Prize 2026 finalist’s work is now on display at Dorich House Museum! ✨

Yesterday we held the private view where friends and family of the finalists were invited to come and see the work. Thank you to all those who came along and to the finalists for their hard work over the past few months creating their sculptures.

All seven bronze sculptures will be on display across the Dorich House Museum apartment from today until our Summer Garden Party on Saturday 27 June.

Stay tuned to hear when the winner will be announced and presented with their £500 cash prize! 🏆

Another great workshop with last Saturday! Anna led the group through the basics of still life drawing while looking at different themes in still life throughout art history.

Thank you for all those who attended and shared your beautiful drawings with us!

Anna’s next workshop at Dorich House Museum will look at plein air drawing from nature in the garden. Tickets are currently sold out but you can join the waitlist on Eventbrite. Just follow the link in our bio for more info.

The second drawing workshop in our series of three will be taking place two weeks today on Saturday 25th April led by 🧑‍🎨

Workshop 2 will focus on drawing Still Life with Anna teaching the participants basic skills in how to draw inanimate objects and create compositions of objects together.

The workshop will take place in the modelling studio with the beautiful north facing studio windows flooding the room with light while you work in the space that Dora Gordine would’ve also once worked in.

All of the workshops are designed for people of all abilities so do not be afraid to come and have a go if you’re a beginner!

Dora Gordine and Richard Hare built up a sizeable collection of Russian Easter eggs at Dorich House, including wooden, papier-mâché and porcelain examples. This 19th-century porcelain egg, decorated with an image of the Virgin and Child, carries the mark of the Imperial Porcelain Factory.
The practice of giving and receiving dyed red eggs at Easter dates back to the early days of the Russian Orthodox church and from the mid-19th century, people began decorating these eggs as gifts. The Russian Imperial tradition of giving porcelain eggs can be traced back to the time of Catherine the Great in the second half of the 18th century. Porcelain eggs evolved as works of art under Nicholas I in the first half of the 19th century and were not only given at Easter but also to mark important events in the life of the Imperial family such as birthdays or marriages. Various images and motifs were used to decorate them, including religious imagery, Russian landscapes, depictions of royal palaces, flowers and garlands.

Dorich House Museum is closed on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th April. We wish all our supporters and visitors a lovely break and look forward to welcoming you back on Thursday 9 April when we reopen.
