Oh hiii followers. Happy summer! ☀️

I’ve really missed you all, so thought I’d check in and share a 2022 mid year playlist of some of my faves of the year so far.

Includes: & more

Of course the playlist would not be complete without featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Spitting Off the Edge of the World” 🤩
I lost my mind seeing them perform live at Primavera in Barcelona this month!

Did anyone else manage to catch them at UK shows this month? 🥰

Let me know if you have any suggestions for the playlist I’ve missed - I’d love to hear your recommendations

Oh hai there followers 👋

Happy International Women’s Day!

Apologies for the silence over the past couple of months on Bechdel - I am still here!

After holding annual IWD events since 2018, I’ve decided to have a break from festivities this year. I’ve definitely missed the usual pre-event build up & excitement but I am so pleased to be taking it easy 😌✌️

I am grateful for all the friends (online & offline) I’ve made via Bechdel - performers, collaborators some of whom have gone on to become some of my closest friends 🥰

It all started with an idea to put on a party for IWD and Karen O as my muse and I have never looked back 💥 💪🏻

It’s truly been a project that has enriched my life in more ways than one.

Bechdel will be back soon - watch this space! 👀

is back! 🙌🏻

It’s our annual festive traditional daily countdown of our favourite tracks from female & gender minority artists in 2021 & its our fourth year this year 😭!)

It’s a collaborative list, so let us know your faves from the year via DM or in the comments! There will be a track featured every day till Christmas Eve 🎄 😀

I will try and feature as many possible & collate a playlist of all the submissions.

Stay safe, warm & cosy gang! 😘

Red (Taylor’s version) is now out. This is the album that put her foot firmly into the pop arena, and it’s so interesting to revisit it after 10 years. Like the other “Taylor’s version”releases, Red comes packed with additional songs including a collab with Phoebe Bridgers and the (eagerly awaited) savage 10 min version of “All too well”. In her crusade to assert the ownership of her work, Taylor is the captain of a trip down memory lane - and what a trip that is! Whilst you’re at it, it’s worth checking out the short film written and directed by Taylor herself.

What are your favourite Tracks from Red? And are there other re-recordings you’re looking forward to?

SINGLE OF THE WEEK: “New Shapes” ft Christine & The Queens & Caroline Polachek

Charli recruited the dream team of Chris & Caroline for this synth power pop moment and I am so here for it!
It’s like the soundtrack to my 80s rom com fantasy. Perfect! 😭❤️

What something out of the ordinary to watch this Halloween season? Well, try polish horror comedy synth musical - THE LURE (2015) which is currently showing on Netflix.

Set in the 80s, the film tells the story of two mermaid sisters one of which falls in love with a man, and the other who needs to satisfy her thirst for blood.

Oh and they end up being recruited as performers and members of a synth pop band in a strip club.
This surreal reworking of The Little Mermaid is bonkers but I enjoyed it a lot. The soundtrack is also a lot of fun and full of bops!

Let us know your thoughts if you’ve seen the film! 🧜‍♀️🩸
