A little work in progress still from an oil painting of my love. Working from an image I took during our time in SanFrancisco, Mission District. Really enjoying playing around with narrative composition and people in places. More work to do on this one, hopefully culminating in part of a larger series.

Yesterday’s painting from my life drawing session at Heatherly’s. Had the most fun in ages working on this piece. Loosened up and explored playing with textures and a fresh pallette inspired by the model’s amazing shirt.

Colour mixing at the wheel .

Today I worked on colour mixing and produced this transcription of Lucian Freud’s portrait of David Hockney. Freud has always been one of my favourite painters and it was incredible to really study and really see how many colours he has working alongside each other at once! Transcriptions are such an incredible exercise to deepen your understanding of how an artist worked.
