ASSEMBLY brings together emerging photographic practitioners whose works explore themes of identity, heritage, memory, place, migration, belonging, ecology, faith, healing, and social experience. Through documentary, conceptual, experimental, archive-based, and personal photographic practices, the exhibition reflects on the connections between people, landscapes, histories, and the spaces we inhabit.

For the past few weeks, our artist Verity Wong has been getting hands-on with local 10-14 year olds at Art Hub Woolwich. Thanks to the support of Young Greenwich, these free after-school sessions have been the perfect spot to learn the basics of clay hand-building and decorating.

We’ve loved seeing these young makers dive into ceramics—stay tuned to see some of the amazing creations they’ve brought to life! 🏺🙌

Woolwich open studios is a wrap for 2026. Thank you to everyone who came through, made a badge, got their bike fixed, smashed some samosas and visited the studios of our amazing artists. We’ll be dropped more photos soon and announcing the studio prize winners, here’s a quick snapshot for now.

This week, Art Hub Studios have been hosting the Urban Tree Festival, being the location for a programme of workshops, talks, walks and the first Urban Forest exhibition.

The Urban Tree Festival is an annual celebration of trees and their benefits, beauty, majesty and magic. Events are held across London and in cities, towns and all urban environments across the UK, bringing all communities together to educate, inspire and share the enjoyment of trees.

So Original begins with a familiar art-school anxiety: what happens when our ideas are not as radical as we hoped? Contemporary art frequently returns to recurring themes — identity, memory, trauma, politics, love and everyday life — forming a shared conceptual vocabulary across diverse practices. Rather than attempting to resolve this condition, the exhibition examines how originality is shaped through interpretation. Visitors encounter the works through an accompanying audio tour, which traces a continuous narrative across the exhibition, linking each artwork within a single unfolding storyline. As the narrative progresses, it reveals how easily distinct works can be drawn into a shared structure of meaning. Connections emerge not as inherent qualities of the artworks themselves, but as products of framing — of the language and narratives through which they are encountered. In doing so, So Original considers repetition not as a failure of originality, but as a condition produced through the systems that organise and interpret contemporary art.

We are delighted to welcome Ibukun Adebambo, the 2026 Free Studio awardee!

Ibukun [a.k.a lbk / eyebekay] is a London-based creative producer, cultural programmer, and artist. Grounded in a commitment to social change, their work focuses on designing, facilitating and producing programmes that nurture learning and connection. They have collaborated with organisations including Somerset House, Andro & Eve and Thackray Museum of Medicine.

During their time at the studio, Ibukun will deepen their creative approach by focusing on their photography and sound practice. They will explore themes of reconnection and healing, through natural and experimental processes.

We can’t wait to see their vision unfold!
