Land of the Three Towers tells the story of the Focus E15 Occupation of empty council houses on Carpenters Estate, east London, last September. Made by those who experienced it first-hand, this playful performance is a celebration of the housing struggle that immerses you in a truly historical and extraordinary moment in the fight for decent housing. The show is devised and performed by an all female group made up of professionals, young mothers and those who have faced homelessness. Every word spoken is verbatim from residents and those involved in Focus E15 Occupation. As activists who are campaigners with Focus E15, this show is deeply personal and honest, expressing the emotional effects of relocation and eviction. Using song, imagery and real experience, this is a story of how collective community action can take on the powers that be, offering the inspiration to for others to take action. After a sold out, celebrated run at a community centre on Carpenters Estate, Stratford, in January, there has been huge demand to take this show to other communities and estates most greatly affected by the housing crisis in London and around the UK. To coincide with this, You Should See The Other Guy offers an outreach program which aims to form strong links with local communities and local housing groups, offering workshops on housing (including Tenants Rights and Theatre of the Oppressed) and free performances on estates.
