After 6 years of Redbellyboy it’s time to step out from behind the pseudonym. All my art will now go under my actual name. I’m launching a new website – ewantaylor.art – and have a new email address – [email protected]. Some of my work will still have the Redbellyboy signature, but anything new will be signed Ewan Taylor. Please subscribe to the new site (link in bio) and drop me a line to say hi.
The Redbellyboy name originated many many years ago. When I was a boy, I was bitten on the belly button by a midge. My sisters, Gillian and Lindsay, thought this was hilarious and teased me mercilessly for years after, calling me ‘Red Belly Button Boy’. Kids eh?! So, when I started making art, I wanted a name to separate my art from my film work. So, in an effort to make my sisters laugh (always my number 1 default setting in life), I used a bastardised version of their taunt, and Redbellyboy was born.
Sadly, as many of you know, we lost Lindsay earlier this year to cancer. It’s been incredibly tough for the whole family. We miss her so much. So, in times of great change, it feels right to start putting my actual name to my art, and let ‘Red Button Button Boy’ reside once again with just my sisters and me.
