DAY 2 ARTISTS ARE HERE ✨

On October 25th, Moksha Festival continues with an afternoon double bill celebrating the beauty and living traditions of South Asian classical music at The Rose Brampton.

We’re honoured to bring together voices and instrumentalists rooted in musical lineage, tradition, and artistry.

The Bhattacharyya family brings generations of Hindustani musical lineage to the Moksha stage. At its centre is Pandit Shantanu Bhattacharyya Shantanu Bhattacharyya , a leading Patiala gharana voice shaped by legendary mentors including Pt. Prasun Banerjee, Vidushi Meera Banerjee, and Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty. Joining him are his wife, Smt. Durba Bhattacharyya Durba Bhattacharyya , an accomplished vocalist and harmonium accompanist and alumna of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, and their daughter, Mitra Bhattacharyya Mitra Bhattacharyya , a beautiful ICM voice carrying forward this profound guru-shishya tradition.

From Lahore, we welcome vocalist Shri Muslim Shaggan Muslim Shaggan — a distinguished representative of the Gwalior gharana and grandson of legendary vocalist Ustad Ghulam Hassan Shaggan. Trained in the tradition from an early age, Muslim carries forward a remarkable musical lineage and the clarity, depth, and expressive character of Gwalior gayaki.

On tabla, we welcome Ustad Shahbaz Hussain Shahbaz Hussain — a dynamic tabla virtuoso of his generation. A master of both the Delhi and Punjab gharanas, Ustad ji has performed alongside great artists worldwide, developing a powerful style that bridges tradition, virtuosity, and innovation.

Completing this ensemble is Pandit Pankaj Mishra Pankaj Mishra , a leading sarangi artist of his generation and a representative of the Banaras gharana. His soulful command of the sarangi brings emotional depth to Hindustani classical music.

Two incredible gharanas. Multiple generations. Five extraordinary artists.

This is Moksha Festival — where centuries of music come alive on one stage.

It was from this blessed evening with at my residence recently that the idea of 'A Trip Down Memory Lane' on Friday 31st July at the Artsdepot in London was born. The venue is intimate with limited seating. In the first set Ustadji will be on vocals sharing some old gems such as this along with his most senior student, Amrit Singh on tabla. In the second, Ustadji will be on tabla with short versions of multiple qawwalis enabling him to showcase the innovation he brought into Qawwali tabla. Let's not forget Dildar Saab was the co-architect with & of so much Qawwali considered the 'standard' today. This event is supported by . Tkt link in bio.
