We are absolutely delighted to celebrate the wonderful news that our former Chair, Cardiff Military Wives Choir Caerdydd member, and Veterans Foundation Board Member, Maggie Pedder, has been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours List.

This prestigious recognition reflects Maggie's unwavering dedication to supporting the Armed Forces community, veterans and their families. Through her years of voluntary service, leadership and advocacy, she has made a lasting difference to countless lives.

Maggie has been a valued part of the Military Wives Choirs family for many years, serving as a trustee and championing our mission with passion, commitment and generosity.

Everyone at Military Wives Choirs sends our warmest congratulations and thanks to Maggie for everything she has done – and continues to do – in support of our community.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Katie McEwan as the new Chief Executive Officer of Military Wives Choirs.
Katie joins the charity at an exciting point in its journey, as we look ahead to our 15th anniversary and continue to strengthen our support for women across the military community through singing, connection and belonging.
A singer herself, Katie brings a lifelong passion for music alongside more than 17 years’ leadership experience across strategy, operations, governance, brand, communications, and organisational change. She has held senior roles across both the commercial and charity sectors, including Ann Summers and Acting CEO at Cancer Awareness Trust.
Katie also brings direct experience of community music-making. She is the Musical and Creative Director of a contemporary community choir in Essex and has a deep understanding of the role singing can play in building confidence, friendship, resilience, and a sense of identity.

Caroline Paxton, Chair of Trustees, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Katie as our new CEO. The role requires a rare blend of strategic leadership, operational grip, emotional intelligence, musical understanding, and strong stakeholder management - and Katie brings all of this in abundance.
Her experience across strategy, culture, governance and brand, combined with her genuine belief in the power of singing and community, makes her ideally placed to lead Military Wives Choirs into its next chapter.”

Katie McEwan said:
“I am incredibly proud to be joining Military Wives Choirs as CEO. This is a very special charity with a powerful legacy, an extraordinary network of choirs, and a unique role in supporting women across the military community.
I have seen first-hand how singing can create confidence, connection and belonging, and I am excited to work with our members, volunteers, staff, trustees, and partners to build on everything the charity has achieved and help shape its next phase.”
