Wood Green based Four Otter Craft Studio will be back with us at our Make and Mend Festival on Saturday 17 October at the Hornsey Town Hall with two great crafts workshops.⁠

🧶From 11.30am-1.30pm: Discover one of the oldest textile skills and learn how to turn soft fleece into your own yarn using a simple drop spindle. This relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop covers the basics of drafting fibre, adding twist and getting your spindle spinning with confidence.⁠
⁠
No experience is needed, and all materials are provided.⁠
⁠
🌻 From 2.00pm-4.00pm: Turn recycled fabric into a cheerful sunflower using traditional rag rugging techniques. ⁠
⁠
You'll learn how to prepare fabric, use a rag rug tool and build your own colourful design to take home. Perfect for complete beginners and anyone who enjoys sustainable crafts. All materials are provided.⁠

It’s the Muswell Hill & Alexandra Park Open Studios this Saturday and Sunday from 11am and 5pm.

It’s only right that there’s an excellent representation of members of our collective dotted around the map.

At No 32:
Jill Tattersall and Hilary Masetti • Urban Artist have got together to show Jill’s brilliant 60s op art porcelain ceramics and Hilary’s magnificent sketches of much loved local buildings

At No 37 on the map you’ll find Gerard [email protected] with mixed contemporary art using traditional techniques including his 90s rave culture collection.

At No 38, Vanessa Vanessa Hernandez is showing bold Lino cut prints and colourful kitchen textiles for the modern home inspired by nature.

At No 29, KatesPotsandCards will be exhibiting beautiful and useful wheelthrown tableware and sculptural pieces.

At No 19, Ros Papershades will be showcasing a mix of life drawings, florals and abstract art.

At T&T you’ll find beautiful Japanese textiles by Robert Jones. Rob will be in the shop over Saturday lunchtime:

🌟Two great sustainable workshops are happening at our Make and Mend Festival on Saturday 17 October at the Hornsey Town Hall. 🌟⁠
⁠
We'll be joined by Giovanna from local social enterprise The Fashion Blueprint who are on a mission to combat waste. ⁠
⁠
💞 From 11.30am-1.30pm: Learn how to hand-sew your own scrunchie using textile waste and surplus fabrics. You'll work entirely by hand - cutting, shaping and stitching your fabric from raw material to finished accessory - picking up the fundamentals of hand sewing along the way. No sewing background required. ⁠
⁠
👕 From 2.30pm-4.30pm: Give an old T-shirt a new lease of life and explore creative upcycling techniques. Using upcycling and mending techniques, participants will learn how to personalise and reimagine textiles through patchwork, cutouts, appliqué and simple embroidery.⁠
⁠
The workshop is beginner-friendly, requires no prior sewing experience. All materials, tools, and facilitation will be provided. Participants leave with a piece they've customised themselves, along with practical skills they can take home.⁠

💚 Discover the magic of eco-printing! Create beautiful greetings cards and bundle-dye a bandana using leaves, flowers and food waste at our Make and Mend Festival on Saturday 17 October from 10.30am-5.00pm ⁠

💚 Come and create something truly unique by joining Sharon of Sharon Mitchell in a hands-on, experimental eco-printing session. Working with leaves, flowers and food waste, you will discover how botanical materials can create beautiful colours, shapes, textures and unexpected compositions on paper and fabric.⁠
⁠
💚 The workshop begins with an introduction to eco-printing, followed by an exploration of the botanical materials used throughout the session. Discover the role of mordants and dye blankets, and how they help natural colours and plant pigments transfer onto paper and fabric.⁠
