Who Killed the Pop Star? by Chris Martin

It is February 1986 and the poptastic duo ‘Wha-Hey!!’ have met up at the Monastery Road recording studios to lay down some tracks for the follow up album to their monster debut hit ‘Spoonful of Seventh Heaven’. Unfortunately, musical and other differences are emerging.
Derek Thompson, the talented one, wants to explore new musical avenues while his less talented but better looking brother Cuthbert is enjoying the pop star lifestyle a bit too much!
Unfortunately, before any resolution is reached, Derek is killed in a publicity stunt gone wrong but was it an accident or was it murder?
You can review all the evidence with our crack detectives and decide "Who Killed the Pop Star?"

The audience will be seated around tables and will work as a team to solve this horrendous crime. There will be snacks and drinks available to sustain you through your onerous adjudications.

Frank Garrett is caught completely off-guard when Jackie, his wife of thirty-seven years, announces she’s leaving. Her only explanation? “You don’t send me flowers.” Frank seeks solace and answers at the New York apartment of his son Charlie, a video game designer.
When Charlie calls his sister Claire in a panic, he discovers Jackie has found refuge at Claire’s Connecticut home.
Via a series of telephone conspiracies, the siblings join forces on a mission to get their parents back together - and more importantly, back in their own home. But complications arise when Frank is introduced to Rita, the lovely widow across the hall…
A modern homage to mid-century romantic comedies in the vein of Barefoot in the Park and Sunday in New York, Tokens of Affection is a warm-hearted delight.

The Plot

It’s 1950, and new colours are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, have been tasked with identifying sexual deviants within their ranks. There’s just one problem: Both Bob and Norma are gay, and have married each other’s partners as a carefully constructed cover.

Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the American gay rights movement, madcap classic sitcom-style laughs give way to provocative drama as two “All-American” couples are forced to stare down the closet door. The action takes place in the same apartment.

The Writer

Topher Payne (born 1979) is an American playwright and screenwriter based in Atlanta, Georgia. Two of his plays premiered in 2015: Perfect Arrangement, which premiered Off-Broadway and was produced by Primary Stages, and Angry F**s, which was produced at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre.
Perfect Arrangement was awarded the M. Elizabeth Osborn Award for best new play by an emerging playwright by the American Theatre Critics Association in 2014. Since 2016, he has scripted five original films for The Hallmark Channel, including My Summer Prince and the Gift to Remember series.

“Topher served as Grand Marshal of the Atlanta Pride parade in 2011. Topher married his husband, Tommy, in a 2009 ceremony in Massachusetts. The couple announced their separation in 2014. In a column for The GA Voice, Payne wrote about the challenge of ending a marriage in a state where the union was not legally recognised: "Despite what the State of Georgia may claim, this has been a real marriage in every possible sense...Divorce is the ugly element of the marriage equality conversation. We're far more hesitant to discuss it—I know I certainly was. It's embarrassing. It sounds like failure. We fear it will somehow weaken our argument if we acknowledge same-sex couples will be contributing to America's divorce statistics."
