Sage & Jester is an arts and entertainment company on a mission to make critical thinking cultural currency.

In conversation with Robin Clyfan at the Cambridge Disinformation Summit, Sage & Jester founder Liana shares how storytelling and the arts can help build resilience to disinformation - by strengthening individual agency and making complex ideas accessible, engaging, and lasting.

In complicated times, humour does more than entertain. It helps us process, connect and make sense of the world. And sometimes, a joke can carry more truth than a headline.

Hear from Sage & Jester founder Liana at last month's Cambridge Disinformation Summit, reflecting on why comedy has become a shared space for understanding - where big, complex ideas are distilled into something we can all recognise, and respond to.

Join us in the fight against misinformation 👊

We're looking for a culturally aware, digitally native Social Media Manager to help shape and grow our presence across social platforms.

This is not a purely operational role - we’re looking for someone with strong editorial instincts, who understands how to translate complex ideas into engaging, accessible content. You’ll play a key role in building a social presence that sits at the intersection of culture, current affairs, and storytelling.

Working closely with the Head of Marketing, you’ll lead the day-to-day ex*****on of social content, helping to grow and engage our audience while supporting wider campaigns and partnerships.

"Everything that used to be a liability is now seen an authenticity."

From our 'Comedian's Guide to Disinformation' event at the Cambridge Disinformation Summit last month, Katherine Ryan on how audience trust is shifting, and why honesty, messiness and vulnerability are becoming more powerful tools of influence.

“I grew up in the Soviet Union with a propaganda machine working behind the scenes…”

At this year's Cambridge Disinformation Summit, Sage & Jester founder Liana reflected on the arc from state-controlled information systems to today’s complex, hyper-connected landscape.

We’ve never had more access to information. And yet, democratic institutions feel increasingly fragile. The connection between information and power isn’t abstract - it’s immediate, structural, and urgent. Which raises the critical question: what happens if we don’t address disinformation first?

What can comedy teach us about disinformation?

At the Cambridge Disinformation Summit last month, Sage & Jester hosted 'A Comedian’s Guide to Audience Manipulation' - a live conversation between comedian Katherine Ryan and host Robin Clyfan exploring the surprising overlap between stand-up comedy and the mechanics of influence.

Together, they unpacked how techniques like timing, relatability, emotional connection, pattern interruption and misdirection can shape the way audiences engage with information - and why those same dynamics are increasingly relevant in today’s media landscape.

At Sage & Jester, we believe tackling disinformation isn’t only a technological challenge - it’s a cultural one. That means exploring new ways to engage people through creativity, participation and storytelling.

Thanks to Katherine Ryan, Robin Clyfan, and the Cambridge Disinformation Summit for an energising and thought-provoking conversation.

Stay tuned for more insights from the session over the coming weeks.

Sage & Jester and the Cambridge Disinformation Summit 2026 are thrilled to collaborate on "A Comedian’s Guide to Audience Manipulation".

Award-winning comedian, writer and presenter Katherine Ryan joins host Robin Clyfan for a sharp fireside chat. How does she read a room, build tension, and shift what people believe, all in 60 minutes?

We’ll deconstruct the craft of stand-up and reveal its uncanny parallels to disinformation tactics.

Today is International Fact-Checking Day.

Launched in 2016 by the International Fact-Checking Network as an antidote to April Fools’ Day, it's a reminder that in a world of hoaxes, pranks, and misinformation, truth deserves its own spotlight.

So, as you head into the bank holiday weekend, a prompt from all at Sage & Jester to:

Where does a show go when it’s over? ♻️

Just over a month ago, we began taking STOREHOUSE down, but made sure its story didn’t end in landfill.

The warehouse is now fully emptied, but every element - from wool and willow to timber and tech - was reused, repurposed, or recycled.

Here’s where STOREHOUSE lives on:

- 18 tonnes of timber redistributed through Recollective to community workshops and creative projects.

- 5 trailers of scenic materials, props, and costume sent to Rocket Storage Services for reuse and responsible recycling.

- 37 tonnes of mixed construction waste processed by First Mile, diverted entirely from landfill.

- Materials donated to schools, hospices, local artists, and theatre companies, extending the life of fabrics, props, and tech across London and beyond. Local weaving and dying studio, Free Weaver Studio, have even started spinning some of our wool and it looks incredible!

- A crew & company yard sale encouraged reuse of props within our own creative community.

We created STOREHOUSE to spark conversations about responsibility and collective action - and we’re proud to have ended it in the same spirit.

Huge thanks once again to our sustainability partners, community collaborators, and the Sage & Jester team for making circular storytelling possible.
