Meow,
In December of 2012 I dared to put my 'creative disposition' to some positive use - I had the audacity to become a self employed artist! And I am still powered solely by the negative energy I receive from naysayers and underestimators! Only joking(ish), my fantastic customers give me plenty of esteem to keep me going and I am eternally grateful. I wanted to put my art out there but as I myself am... financially challenged(!) and unknown in the art world I decided it would be a good idea to get it printed on shirts, to make it more 'economically accessible'. I also rarely ever saw any cool shirts in the shops and I wanted to make cool stuff I that would want to wear. I now also offer paintings, prints and some hand made accessories, as well as commission work. My art style is influenced by punk rock, rock'n'roll, cult tv and B movies, and it's graphic nature is very much inspired by the topography lines I used to enjoy drawing in geography class at school. I started developing my style of art probably around 2006 using markers and tippex on cheap copy paper, and then I would scan it into the computer to add colour. I have continued this way until I got an XP Pen drawing tablet in January 2020, and then in Christmas 2020 I invested in an iPad and Procreate because I needed to work away from home while I was bubbling with my partner during the pandemic and I didn't want to travel with a load of art supplies. I never thought I would be into doing my art completely digitally but I am really enjoying it so far and am wasting less paper and breathing in less noxious fumes! Speaking of not wasting paper or using using toxic art supplies, I have become very conscious about what I put out into the world and am making a continued effort to be more environmentally friendly where I can afford to. All my packaging is either 100% plant based and home compostable, or recyclable, even my postage stickers and Sellotape are plant based. I rarely use any plastic and when I do it is reused packaging from supplies I saved from my own shopping. My shirts are also now printed with environmentally friendly high quality water based inks, and I always use outsource my t shirt and art printing to other small businesses.
