Summer school fun and crafts!! ✨

Last month Maria Penrose Dance Studios held a summer school day of dance, and I had the exciting job and pleasure of arranging the craft sessions for the young dancers - decorating pointe shoes!!

It was lovely to see how excited they were and the creative ideas they came up with for their own embellished shoes! The dancers were from age 6 and above and so being able to help some of the younger ones, give ideas and watch their own themes come together was a very exciting and successful part of the day 🩰

A few weeks ago I took my own little embellished collection to the MPDS summer school to put on display and for the students to use as inspiration for their own pointe shoes they got to decorate!! ✨

Wedding Converse ✨

I had another wonderful request to embellish these personalised converse for my cousins wedding 💍

The print was already on the shoes, so additionally I added mixed sizes pearls to the front of the shoes with a a line of pearls going all the way around 🤍

My first pair of custom embellished wedding converse!!! 🤍✨💍

I was so excited when my best friend asked me if I would decorate her wedding converse to wear on her special day! 💖

I added lots of mixed size pearls and gems to give the shoes a special sparkle and hint of pink to match the undertone of the wedding dress. Finished off with a change of laces to the equally sparkly and pink ribbons 🎀

Royal Ballet displays at the Royal Opera house 🩰

I love stopping by the ROH whenever I get chance to whilst in London… Last summer I took these pictures of the pointe shoe and costume displays that were upstairs. I love how much detail there is in each of these creations 🤩 Definitely getting inspiration for more shoes to make ✨

Inspired by the themes of teal, water and sparkles, with the insole crossed ribbons originally inspired by the details on Juliet’s bodice/dresses in the classical ballet costumes 🎀

This custom pair was a special commission that was made earlier this year as a gift to celebrate someone’s very significant birthday 💖

Designs and materials 🪡 ✨🩰

Whenever it comes to creating point shoes I always consider what materials I can use as well as my initial design idea. Once I have found the materials that will work for the idea, I am then able to create a digital design that I hope to replicate with the finished pair 🩰

I wanted to share a couple of these pictures I have had saved for a while... I’d like to mention and thank JS Curtains and Blinds for the fabric sample books. These fabric samples always have plenty of options to choose from when it comes for me to pick out a fabric to use for the insole of the shoe designs 🎀
Plus, it’s a sustainable way to make use of these fabrics ♻️

Beautiful balletic sights in London🩰
Last summer I spent some time exploring London and came across many sightings of pointe shoe displays and beautiful tutus!! ✨
Here’s a selection of pictures that includes:
- huge pointe shoe in their store
- A stunning embellished pointe shoe display outside of the in Covent Garden. So many amazing artists got to decorate these shoes 🤩 The display also included stunning tutus from the Royal Ballet’s production of Sleeping Beauty 🎀
- Display of worn pointe shoes by famous ballerinas at the RAD exhibition in the
