Julie Sullock, Artist in Focus 22nd June – 5th July 2026

Statement
Julie is interested in the layering of colours and how different colours behave when placed next to each other, creating different perspectives.
She enjoys experimenting with contrasting mediums, mixing the translucent qualities of etching with the bright opaque colours of screen, building up layers, and creating different moods. She enjoys gardening and works part-time delivering family activities at RHS Wisley. Gardening is her other passion, and plants feature in her compositions.

Julie has exhibited for some years at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea. In 2022 she was featured in Country Life magazine online, when James Elwes stated, "The way her colours are soft and blurry mark-making recall some of the greats of Modern British painting; there are nods to John Piper, Howard Hodgkin and Ivon Hitchens in her work which feel rich and comforting. One to watch. There's a joy and zest to her printmaking, which we all need right now”.

Julie had a print accepted into the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, in 2005. She has also exhibited in many ‘Open Exhibitions’ at the Bankside Gallery and the Mall Galleries. She studied Fine Art at St Martin’s school of Art and completed an M.A. at Brighton Polytechnic. Her prints have a painterly quality to them and many are one offs, involving many layers of colour and shapes, using a variety of techniques.

Natasha Godfrey - Artist in Focus 8th - 21st June

I create etchings inspired by the London I love—its architecture, shopfronts, landmarks, and overlooked details.
From Bar Italia in Soho to Shakespeare’s Globe, I’m interested in capturing the places that give the city its identity. On my illustrations of the Globe theatre I leave traces of ink on the printing plate, each piece carries its own atmosphere, echoing London’s familiar cloudy skies.
Alongside these scenes, I also make prints of simple things that bring me joy—like a small Lego heart. Sometimes the smallest subjects can say the most.
