'What is the true story of my early childhood?' — New play debuts at Greenwood Theatre'

A new play 'For Three Refrigerators and a Washing Machine' by the Centre for Hellenic Studies and Culture In Action explores themes of identity, family, and the hidden stories behind international adoption, opens 24 Oct.

'Γεννήθηκα Έλληνας, Γεννήθηκα Ελληνίδα'. Ερχόμαστε να σας πούμε αληθινές ιστορίες ανθρώπων για μια σκοτεινή πλευρά στην ιστορία της σύγχρονής Ελλάδας που μέχρι σήμερα κανείς δεν τόλμησε να αγγίξει. Αυτοί οι άνθρωποι ακόμα ψάχνουν, ακόμα ρωτάνε σαν σύγχρονοι Οιδίποδες 'ποιός είμαι;'.

'For Three Refrigerators and a Washing Machine' is an example of Verbatim Theatre that tells the story of the child adoptions from Greece in the Cold War era. Based on real documents and events, the performance makes its debut as a new and original play.

Our new production, "For Three Refrigerators and a Washing Machine", directed by our fantastic Mitsou, produced by Culture In Action and King's College London, based on the research of Prof. Gonda Van Steen, got funded by the Arts Council England. A new, bold play about the dark pages of modern Greek history is funded by a British Institute. You call it a success already!!! 🎉🎉🎉 😊
