Rudeboy Questions the Financial Benefits of Music Streaming

Nigerian music star Rudeboy says the widespread belief that streaming has benefited every artist is far from the truth.

Speaking during an interview on The Beat 99.9 FM, the former P-Square member acknowledged that streaming initially transformed the industry, but argued that it now leaves many musicians struggling to earn a sustainable income.

According to Rudeboy, fewer than 15% of artists are making meaningful revenue from streaming platforms, while the remaining 85% see little financial reward.

Having experienced both the era of CDs and radio as well as the rise of digital streaming, he believes the shift has made music more accessible worldwide but has also reduced artists’ earnings due to smaller revenue shares.

While streaming continues to produce viral hits and lucrative deals for a select few, Rudeboy insists that the vast majority of artists are finding it increasingly difficult to make a living from the business.

Peller and Jarvis Showered with Multi-Million Naira Gifts at Star-Studded Wedding

Nigerian TikTok sensation Peller and his wife, Jarvis, have become the talk of social media after receiving an extraordinary outpouring of gifts during their wedding celebrations.

The couple officially sealed their union with a court wedding on July 29, before hosting a glamorous white wedding in Lagos over the weekend. The event attracted several celebrities, including Iyabo Ojo, Eniola Badmus, Zinoleesky, Juma Jux, and other notable personalities.

One of the biggest highlights came when King Mohamed Adah, popularly known as King Ochacho and founder of Ochacho Real Homes, surprised the newlyweds with a ₦400 million house in Abuja.
