Arts Territory

Arts Territory www.artsterritory.org We hope to inspire new, challenging art and facilitate dialogue between artists internationally.

Initiated as a vehicle to develop creative links between Polish and UK artists and to provide a support network for international creatives interested in engaging with Polish arts, Arts Territory has developed into wider territories of investigation. Our artistic programming is dedicated to new commissions and cross-border collaborations, development of politically informed, critical discourses that explore issues of transnationalism, identity and cultural heritage in a contemporary art context. Arts Territory fulfils its mission in a variety of ways including exhibitions, festival, through commissioning, research projects and publications, presenting works by UK based and international artists.

Last night’s Fugaz Collective gave us a true feast for the senses — a tasting banquet filled with scent, flavor, and storytelling. Aromas of the Sahara mingled with the humid breath of the Amazon, creating a moment suspended between two worlds.

The air was filled with the scent of lavender, mist rising over shells, olive oil infused with dill and smoked paprika, and the sweetness of the peach — an ephemeral composition of textures and moods, lingering just long enough to disappear.

On the second day of Memories of Water, Memories of Air, we experienced the powerful performance STORM by Paweł Sakowicz.

With Storm, Sakowicz offers a compelling portrait of transformation through movement, in which the body becomes both the subject and object of its gaze — shifting between control and abandon, strength and exposure.

The performance is accompanied by an original score by Agnė Matulevičiūtė and costuming by Elena Marija Veleckaitė.
His performance in Venice was the second public showing of the work, following its recent premiere at Sapieha Palace in Vilnius.

Yesterday at Palazzo Contarini Polignac, performed as part of the first day of Memories of Water, Memories of Air with a deeply emotional piece.

Entitled kupalnocka/gry wodne, and presented in a new format for Venice, the piece — featuring guitar, electronics, bells, and water — blurs the lines between concert, ritual, and dream, and presents perceptive interactions between musical and atmospheric elements.

Presented as a performative screening on a drifting boat in the Venetian lagoon, Waiting Room by is a video installation created in collaboration with Hamed Ahmadi,

The work traces the haunting absence left by missing Kurdish migrants, drawing from the photographic archive of Shamal Husamalddin Hassan, who has spent the last four years documenting families of those who disappeared en route to Europe. Originating from Rania in Iraqi Kurdistan — a region marked by steady waves of youth emigration — the piece shifts the lens from direct narrative to atmospheric reflection, offering a poetic meditation on loss, longing, and the search for a better life.

On the first day of Memories of Water, Memories of Air, we premiered Karolina Łebek’s new film installation sanare.
The 4K moving image work invites viewers into a meditative loop of memory, loss, and healing — rooted in personal and collective histories of displacement.

Set against the backdrop of Krynica Zdrój and Łemko heritage, sanare reflects on ancestral trauma and the quiet rituals of reconnection, both spiritual and physical. A poetic journey back to a silenced language, a lost home, and the healing power of water.

Thank you, , for sharing this intimate and powerful work with us.

Tonight we also experienced Monika Błaszczak’s dancing intervention responded to the Venetian air and heat, creating fragile membranes of clay and salt. Clay cultivates a poetic, sensuous approach to movement. Through a choreographic language attuned to space and its many presences — visible, ghostly, and more-than-human — the work explores vulnerability, resilience, and eroticism. The body and clay serve as parallel vessels of memory and transformation: soft, fragile, and shaped by touch and time.

🌊💥 On the first day (27.06) of Memories of Water, Memories of Air, experience Gaetano Di Gregorio – Water breaks, water builds!

This live performance explores how salt and water can destroy bricks made of clay — and how what’s left can be mixed again with water and clay to form something new. A cyclical process of breaking and rebuilding, where destruction becomes the starting point for creation.

Don’t miss this unique encounter with matter, water, and transformation!
