Marketstall Recording Independent recording / mixing / mastering studio in London London N15

Recording studio in London E16 (zone 2/3) offering recording, mixing and mastering services to the independent musicians of London and beyond. We have a traditional control room / live room set up, geared to recording live performances by musicians making noise with their instruments. Of course, we do plenty of work in-the-box too, but really we're old-fashioned in our approach to making records. The space is perfect for all kinds of sessions from voice-overs to solo musicians to full bands - we can record up to 24 channels of audio simultaneously and there's room enough to set up bass / drums / guitars / keys to record a whole band all at the same time if you're feeling brave and well rehearsed. We've worked hard to make the place comfortable and homely to help you feel relaxed and able to give your best performance. We know recording studios can feel like weird alien environments sometimes - so different to every other situation in which you perform you art - and it can be hard to really get into that creative, expressive frame of mind ... not here though! Come visit, you'll see what we mean :)

See website for full details - www.marketstallrecording.com - and please get in touch to arrange a visit, make your booking or just say hi.

MUSICIANS WHO ARE NOT IN LONDON! I'm trying to get a bit more remote work through the studio - mixing and mastering your home recordings, etc. etc. stuff where you don't need to come here in person. So, I'm trying out Fiverr and for a while my best prices for remote mixing and mastering will be here:

I'm Mark, an audio engineer in London with 20+ years of experience making records with independent musicians, bands and songwriters. I've run the Marketstall

Ged Babey is a kind friend. He doesn't like the new the march afternoons record as much as the last one, but he still spent a good chunk of time, effort and words writing nice things about it for me at Louderthanwar, here.
We both stayed up late last night trying to get all my nonsense to read like it makes sense in print!

Anyway, he's wrong, of course. The new record is my best work :) So I'm happy to leave it here as my final album: https://themarchafternoons.bandcamp.com/album/i-hope-you-dont-get-anyone-else

https://open.spotify.com/album/42iPN1DcTIdEvcyq5bypmE?si=3ojp9PcdQdepfxtpFP4w0A

And in case you've missed all the rest of the march afternoons' records I put out over the last couple of years, you can now get them all from Bandcamp for "name your price" (i.e. free if you want, but also you can throw some pennies at me if you prefer).

I'll probably do a few more posts about it before I disappear completely because, you know, I want you to listen to the record.
But mostly, I'm signing off round about here. 🙋‍♂️

Some news on the Marketstall Recording studio's imaginary house band, the march afternoons ...

A stranger liked our last song so much they put it on a playlist and wrote a haiku for it, so that's nice. If you've not heard it yet you can listen here: https://themarchafternoons.bandcamp.com/
And then tomorrow there'll be a whole new the march afternoons LP record at that very same link. The last one. As in final, not previous. Yeah it's time.
So, you know, listen today, and listen tomorrow and then go back and listen to the old stuff again and you'll have completed the game, just like me: https://open.spotify.com/artist/29S6yEuYm3QJWNBVpQJGkx?si=CCq8rFkAThOe-fkJ5xC5mg

Every week we present an Eclectic Picks playlist. All tracks are selected from the full inbox of 200 tracks that are submitted each week to Fresh On The Net. WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR? Our playlists are orientated to the alternative music fan. Lyrics are not essential, abstract ideas are embraced a

A little bit of self-trumpeting, if you'll permit it ...

"if you find please KILL KILL KILL" is the new and last single from the march afternoons (Marketstall Recording's imaginary house band) and it's available in all the usual places RIGHT NOW!

Bandcamp: https://themarchafternoons.bandcamp.com/album/if-you-find-please-kill-kill-kill (pay you what you like)
Sp*tify: https://open.spotify.com/album/4tXCAG2qGMwt4G9vbIfYe0?si=_9LIWy9hRDerdaSMkquPIg (if you prefer to see musicians not paid at all)

Everything you hear here was recorded at the studio, by me, and you too can say that about your next record if you book in some sessions to make it here with me :)

Go have a listen, and drop me a message if you want to record some noise. Or just to say nice things about my record.

You know I put out an LP record in June, right? It's under my fake band name the march afternoons and it's called the march afternoons aren't real.
Other than talking to Ged Babey about it here ... https://louderthanwar.com/there-is-too-much-music-game-over-the-march-afternoons/ ... I've not really bothered to do much "promotion".
But it's a really good record and you should listen to it at least, and then buy it if you like it: https://themarchafternoons.bandcamp.com/album/the-march-afternoons-arent-real
(or on Sp*tify, if you insist ... https://open.spotify.com/album/12AaBNmjd91jgzatsbK9wV?si=UiYGMESYScmx_G4CcFtkAw )

This week Sam Walton off of that DOG UNIT said I was the worst self-publicist he knows. This must be true because I still have copies of my record to sell - the march afternoons released "the march afternoons aren't real" a couple of months back.
It's really good, you'd like it.
Go listen, you'll see (well, hear) I'm right...
https://themarchafternoons.bandcamp.com/album/the-march-afternoons-arent-real

And then if you want to listen to all the other records I did last year they're there too.

Records, tapes and t-shirts for everyone who wants them, all from one linked page! What a world.

And just in case you're one of the who think it's not real unless it's on Sp*tify, here: https://open.spotify.com/album/12AaBNmjd91jgzatsbK9wV?si=IbmNJsonQqClZJa-J_1JqQ

These words fell out when Ged Babey held me upside down and shook me with some questions about the studio's house "band" the march afternoons.

This is an interview about Content replacing Art, how dreams don't come true and laughing into the void. The march afternoons are very real!

There we are, the march afternoons top of the list in this week's five from Tim Thackray's .
He said nice things, you should read them.
"Simply magnificent" happens right in the first line, and we didn't even have to pay him to write that. Screw you Submithub and MusoSoup and everyone else who charges artists for "reviews". If you're charging the subject for what you write about them, it's PR, not music journalism.

Tim, thank you for not being one of those.

Everyone else, please go buy the record, on Tim's recommendation :)
