A little more progress today.
Trying to get this one over the finish line. These are a few details of a medium size picture of woodland in April. It’s been a year in the making. A game of patience and decision making and resting (me and the picture)!
Hopefully it might get in to a frame for Open studio in a few weeks.
There’s always hope!

It’s interesting when you work for months towards a show……
You finish work off and discuss options with your framer and order the invites and buy the wine and book the delivery driver and then think, I’ll just make one more…….
The urge to paint is far stronger than the urge to exhibit. I know there’s degrees of want and need but I do need to keep painting and producing. Also when you hit on a new motif, idea or format you feel excited and you can think of nothing else!
So I made this little beauty in a couple of hours. Yes, a couple of hours. I even repainted the frame as it wasn’t the right colour. It is a bit darker magenta in reality but the frame was still a bit wet when I took the photos.
Will it make it in to the show in a couple of weeks? Unlikely due to many factors but mainly because I’d like to look at it for a bit longer. I might consider applications for purchase/custodianship at a later date. Now I’m off to the pub for the Hall School get together. An evening of fun and laughter but also to remember the lovely Jack Lonergan who died far too young. Here’s to you Jack 🍷💋

A few shots of a recently completed piece. It’s called Wandle Wander. It’s the river that passes my studio. It’s long been admired and used by creative types including William Morris who had a factory on the Wandle. It’s a beautifully clean river that supports so much wildlife and is graffitied in places too! Love the man versus nature idea. It’s 180cm x 40cm and will be shown for the first time at the Bakery Gallery from the 10th September. Have a wonderful day everyone! X
