Julie Brook's exhibition includes a pastel on paper work titled 'Ascending', which measures over 3m tall. This work was inspired by her time in Kanagaso Quarry, Japan, which she first visited in 2015.
'When I began making 'Ascending' I wanted the steps to feel that they were emerging from out of the ground and chaos of the spoil. That they had a feeling of always having been there.
The drawings evolved through a series beginning with pencil to understand the composition of the work. I wish to convey the richness of the yellow ochre of the stone through building up the layers of pastel and pigment from which the form emerges'.
- Julie Brook
🏞️ Don't miss the opportunity to see the works in the flesh as part of Julie's exhibition, 'What Is It That Will Last', which runs until 30th June.

🔥 'The Firestack series first began on the West Coast of Jura in 1991 using a silent Super 8 camera to explore the time-based element of the work. Understanding the importance of sound, I returned to exploring this work in 2015 to give a more rounded expression of the presence of the elements and to explore them in depth through the different seasons.' Julie Brook, 2023.
📅 'What is it that will last' is on the Mezzanine level Kings Place, and will run until 30th June.

Pangolin London is proud to be raising money for Ukraine 🇺🇦
After a conversation with artist Angela Palmer who suggested that our ‘call to arms’ could be to raise funds through an exhibition, we have created an online exhibition to raise funds for the Ukraine Crisis Appeal with the Red Cross.

Prices start at £15.
100% of proceeds from sales will go straight to the appeal and we are hugely grateful to all our artists for their generous support.
