Les Chats Noir
Spent a lot of time during lockdown with our two black cats. They spend much time sitting atop the bannister posts hoping for treats! I’m forever photographing them as I love the shapes they create - being black they’re like a permanent silhouette!
My daughter had her 11th birthday during lockdown so I decided to create this card for her, inspired by our feline friends sitting hopefully on their posts but also by one of my favourite posters of all time... Le Chat Noir by Theophile Steinen, a Swiss-French art nouveau painter and printmaker. Scroll to see his amazing poster.
Le Chat Noir was a nightclub opened in the 1880’s and a focal point for artists and is thought to be the first modern cabaret.
Would love to improve on this poster style or create other cards in the style of other great posters with my own personal twist 😁
(Excuse my poor French on the card!)
