HOW CAN A BODY WITHSTAND THIS?
Sat 29 - Sun 30 August 2026 | Bitesize Festival 50

"If they want to push my body this far, then I want them to look at me."

In the hours after Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, a woman in rural Tennessee is denied abortion care that she could have had the day before. Thrust into a dizzying world of doctors, protesters, crossing state lines and a media frenzy, her best friend returns to the beginning to understand how we got here.

A gripping solo play about friendship, home, grief, and yes – abortion.

PLAYING THE FEELD
Thu 27 - Sun 30 August | Bitesize Festival 50

Playing the Feeld is a raucous comedy about s*x, dating, and the things we do in search of connection. Newly single, Emily throws herself into the world of Feeld, collecting stories, surprises, and the occasional emotional bruise. As one date blurs into the next, she discovers that finding what turns you on/off is often easier than figuring out what you actually want. BABY STEPS
Wed 26 - Fri 28 August 2026 | Bitesize Festival 50

Georgina is trying to decide whether she wants children or not. The only problem is, she’s currently in labour. Twenty-something years old, spiralling, alone, Georgina travels from London to her hometown hospital with the notion of getting her no-nonsense, midwife ex-best friend, Molly, to deliver her baby. Between contractions, Molly and Georgina dive head first into quarter life existential crises. Meanwhile, we take you on a crash course covering 400 years of the history of midwives. From the witch hunts to forceps, this comic yet disturbing story reveals how midwives have been pushed aside for men to show them how it’s (not) done.

Grounded in Georgina and Molly’s rekindled friendship, Baby Steps is a heart-warming, pressure-cooker comedy about the impossible tangle of life-decisions facing young women right now.

L.A BABY
Tue 25 - Fri 28 August | Bitesize Festival 50

The unbelievable truth of nearly a decade in L.A from award-winning actor and comedian Ambrosine Davies (Funny or Die, The Inbetweeners) L.A Baby is the darkly comedic story of Davies’ nine years in L.A, caught in a cycle of cringeworthy auditions, balancing odd jobs and working as a nanny for an Orthodox family in the middle of the world’s most expensive divorce. Soon swapping comedy aspirations for hard won survival skills, Davies’ relationship at home escalates from toxic to terrifying. When stalking, death threats and the prospect of carrying a gun to school pick-ups become her only viable option, Davies realises her American Dream has become a life-threatening nightmare.

PANTO DAME EGO DEATH
Mon 24 - Wed 26 August | Bitesize Festival 50

Winner of the Buzz Goodbody Director’s Award 2025, Panto Dame Ego Death is a slap-dash musical comedy about staring failure in the face and belting out that show-stopping number anyway. Four performers and a workhorse piano tell the story of Denise, a washed-up Pantomime Dame who is transported to a strange other world after choking on stage. On a mission to return home and save her career, can Denise and a crew of nonsense panto-land characters uncover the scary (and s*xy) evil plaguing this world?

Bold, q***r, and unashamedly silly, Panto Dame Ego Death is the tale of hitting rock bottom and clawing your way back just in time for the curtain call.

We’re heading into the fourth week of Bitesize Festival 50 at Riverside Studios, and this weekend, film takes centre stage.

From Friday 21 - Sunday 23 August, we welcome the Bitesize Short Film Festival 2026 for three days of screenings celebrating bold new cinema, emerging filmmakers and exciting new voices from the UK and around the world.

A huge thank you to our festival sponsors, Lost and Grounded Brewers, The Developing Room, and cineshort, for supporting this year’s festival and the next generation of artists.

There’s still plenty of theatre to discover too. One more week of Bitesize remains, with shows continuing throughout this weekend and into our final week, before Bitesize Festival 50 comes to a close on Sunday 30 August.

And as we head towards the finale, we’re looking back at some brilliant moments from the festival so far, including our Bitesize Launch Party, sponsored by Lost and Grounded Brewers Ltd.
