If you are completely new to ceramics and would like to give wheel-throwing a go, taster workshops are a great opportunity to learn the basics of centering and throwing on the wheel! In this 2.5hr class, you’ll get a general feel of the technique and make a pot of your own that you can keep and use at home.

Workshops run on Saturdays from 10am to 12:30pm

This Saturday is the opening of resident artist “ANTIQUITA” exhibition at the museum, bringing together an incredible collection of work.

“ANTIQUITA presents a compelling body of sculptural work by Zahed Taj-Eddin, a Syrian artist and archaeologist. Born in Aleppo, a city shaped by layered civilizations and recent rupture, Taj-Eddin creates works that feel at once unearthed and urgently contemporary. Through clay and bronze, he excavates
memory, myth, and collective trauma, forging objects that stand between relic and witness.”

13 June - 10 October 2026.

Interested in trying a hand-building ceramics? We are offering Saturday hand-building taster workshops, which are designed to familiarise yourself with clay and the fundamental hand-building techniques - all in a small (up to 6 students) and very relaxed setting .

In this 2.5 hour session, you will have a go at pinching and coiling your own cup, then shaping and refining your piece, potentially adding a handle or surface decoration and textures. This is a one-off class, all materials and firings are included.

🗓️ Saturdays, 10am-12:30pm
💷 £80 per person, all materials and firings included
