We’re delighted to announce our next very special guest artist joining us at Culford Studios on Thursday 3rd of September: one of the UK’s leading ceramic artists.
As many of you know, Culford Studios was formerly Kate’s house and studio. She and her husband Graham brought the space to life with so many fun and colourful details that still inspire the making of our CLAY community.
With an illustrious career spanning thirty years, Kate has developed an unmistakable and highly regarded style, evidenced by her hand-made pots and intricately ornamented sculptures. Observations of nature - particularly fruits, nuts and berries - are the overriding influence in her work, alongside a career spent pioneering glazing techniques through research and experimentation in the chemistry of glazing.
The sophistication of her glazes has led to collaborations with prominent architects and designers on public art projects in hospitals, schools, parks and libraries.
We can’t wait to hear all about her wonderful career, and the history and memories of Culford before it became CLAY.
