Last day. Don't miss it!

Elenor Martinsen: “New Patterns“ | 25 September - 4 October, 2026

“How does one paint something as light as a feather? How does one express a breath?”

5 Hare & Billet Rd, Blackheath, SE3 0RB. Open Fri-Sun, 10-6 or by appointment.

Elenor Martinsen’s first solo exhibition in London is a tonic for troubled times. The artworks have a balanced, melodic feel - like painterly lullabies to soothe the soul. Drawing inspiration from her Nordic roots and international travels, Elenor imbues her work with the gentle and nurturing influence of the Moon.

Elenor Martinsen (1959) is a visual artist and gallerist. She began painting in the eighties, and worked as an assistant for artist Steve Joy in London, New York, and Italy. She had her first solo show in Barcelona in 1992, and later established a gallery in Oslo and an art centre outside Oslo at the shore of Lake Tyrifjorden.

Martinsen’s works have been acquired by major institutions and private collections in many countries. She continues to work with collages of wax, photography, rice paper, gold leaf, pigment, and pastel. In 2001, she was nominated for the Carnegie Art Award.
