Now open, Pulitzer Arts Foundation presents ‘Olga de Amaral: Weaving the Infinite’, a wide-ranging investigation into the work of Colombian artist Olga de Amaral.

Covering more than six decades, the exhibition traces Amaral’s evolution from early loom weavings to monumental fibre works, bringing together celebrated and rarely seen works alongside materials from her commercial design studio, Telas Amaral, and textiles and objects from her personal collection.

Born in Bogotá in 1932, Amaral trained in architectural drafting before studying textiles at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Since the 1950s, she has expanded the possibilities of weaving through experimental techniques and materials including wool, linen, horsehair, gesso and gold leaf. Her works hover between textile, painting and sculpture, often extending into architectural space through their scale and dimensionality.

🗓️ 10 September 2026 - 31 January 2027.

📍 Pulitzer Arts Foundation, St. Louis, USA.

Find us at Booth B07 at Frieze Seoul on view through 5 September.

Lisson’s presentation features new and historic works by artists from its international roster, spanning painting, sculpture, textiles and photography. The booth brings together works by Olga de Amaral, Huguette Caland, Ryan Gander, Hugh Hayden, Leiko Ikemura, Anish Kapoor, Julian Opie, Dalton Paula, and Hiroshi Sugimoto, among others.

Hugh Hayden is represented on the booth by ‘The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice’ (2026), a new project from the artist’s continued series of skillet works, transforming familiar objects through selection and carving to challenge perceptions of ourselves, others and the environment.

The booth also presents a significant work by Anish Kapoor: ‘Tangerine over Red and Spanish and Pagan Gold’ (2020), a concave mirror that tests the boundaries of spatial perception.

Further highlights include Hiroshi Sugimoto’s ‘Brush Impression 1617 (River)’ (2024) and ‘Opticks 616’ (2023), preceding the artist’s solo exhibition at Lisson New York this September, alongside Olga de Amaral ‘Nébula 16’ and Leiko Ikemura’s ‘Miko’ (2008/2024).

From 31 August – 10 September, Ryan Gander will present ‘The Find’ in Seoul, marking the first realisation of his ongoing public art project in Korea and its fourth edition globally. The project coincides with the opening of Frieze Seoul (2 – 5 September) to explore ideas of value, exchange, attention and collective experience.

Ryan Gander’s practice spans sculpture, film, writing, graphic design, installation and performance, bringing together the everyday and the esoteric through associative networks of ideas. Often taking the form of puzzles or fragmented narratives, his works question language, knowledge and the ways in which meaning is constructed, inviting viewers to make their own connections and interpretations.

In keeping with this spirit, 'The Find' will encourage viewers to become active participants in the work, navigating the city in search of 16,000 specially designed coins, each bearing a piece of wisdom to be carried, acted upon or passed on.

Now open at Château La Coste, France, Sean Scully presents 'STACK', a solo exhibition curated by Michel Gauthier. Bringing together the complete 'Stack' painting series, selected 'Cactus' paintings and 'Natured', a new series of drawings, the exhibition opens on 23 August 2026.

Over five decades, Scully has shifted the paradigm of American abstraction towards an emotional form of painting, drawing on both the legacy of American abstraction and the metaphor and spirituality of the European tradition. Working across painting, sculpture, printmaking, watercolour and pastel, he has developed a distinctive visual language of bands, blocks and geometric forms, with works held in major collections internationally.

Opening in September at Lisson New York, Hiroshi Sugimoto’s third solo exhibition with the gallery marks a resonant return to the city that has shaped his vision for more than five decades. At its centre are new photographs from Sugimoto’s ‘Diorama’ series, made over the past year through access to the dioramas at the American Museum of Natural History. First begun in 1976, the series established Sugimoto’s singular ability to transform constructed scenes into images that appear to suspend both time and reality.

Alongside these new photographs, the exhibition introduces washi paper screens that reconfigure Sugimoto’s images as luminous byōbu, bringing a sculptural dimension to his exploration of photographic space.

Together, the works return to longstanding questions within Sugimoto’s practice: the relationship between reality and artifice, the nature of perception, and the capacity of photography to unsettle our sense of time and place.

🗓️ 15 September - 24 October

📍504 West 24th Street, Lisson New York.

Closing soon in LA, ‘Spencer Finch: Balboa of House and Garden.’

For his first solo exhibition with Lisson in Los Angeles, and his inaugural exhibition with the gallery in the United States, Spencer Finch presents an eclectic selection of new projects, including works on paper, a site-specific skylight installation, and a monumental outdoor sculpture.

Influenced by poetry, psychology and colour theory, Finch explores the nature of light, colour, memory and perception. His practice oscillates between media, most notably watercolours, drawings, video and photographs, translating observations of natural phenomena into precise but poetic studies of colour, light and experience.

🗓️ On view through 22 August at 1037 N. Sycamore Ave.

From 28 August, 2026, MOCA Cleveland presents 'Tishan Hsu: permeable surface'.

This exhibition presents a career-spanning selection of works, including Hsu’s first and most recent video works: 'Folds of Oil', 2005 and 'emergent mesh', 2025. 'Tishan Hsu: permeable surface', demonstrates Hsu’s consistent inquiry into perception, the body, and how technology is transforming our sense of reality, revealing the tactile and psychological impacts of our digital age.

For over forty years, Tishan Hsu has explored the increasing interconnectedness of the human body with technology, resulting in a visual language that merges digital imagery, industrial materials, and biomorphic forms to create uncanny works. Trained in both classical fine art and architectural design, Hsu’s work bridges Renaissance technique with futuristic sensibilities. He traces our deepening entanglement with screens and systems and how they mediate our experience of the world.

For Liu Xiaodong’s (born 1963) latest painterly journey, he traveled to Detroit in the middle of winter, translating to his canvases the life of John, a tattoo artist and member of a renowned local medieval-style fighting team. Xiaodong’s empathetic and wistful paintings portray industrial and suburban Detroit through the lens of one of its denizens.

For his first exhibition at Lisson Los Angeles earlier this year, Liu Xiaodong visited another American city last year, focusing his documentation of a stay in Detroit on a single, central focus for the first time in his career. His sole subject is John Mcintyre, a Detroit-based tattoo artist and member of a local medieval fighting team, who is variously depicted by the artist in full armor, mid-battle in a snowy forest, or else at home, relaxing in a hot tub. The concentration of this painting project on one man, the host and conduit for all of the artist's interactions with the city, leads Liu to portray industrial and suburban Detroit through the lens of John and his loyal band of brothers.

Until 13 September 2026, Musée Soulages presents 'Replay the melody' an exhibition of works by Hiroshi Sugimoto.

His photographic work, which began in the 1970s, is imbued with a philosophical approach to time immemorial and millennia-old traditions, a quest for origins that also nourished the creative process of Pierre Soulages. Beyond this shared vision, Soulages and Sugimoto share a common preoccupation with light and shadow, a formal interest in the horizon line, space, and the unfolding of the artwork, as well as a strong connection to architecture. Although the two artists never met, these conceptual and formal connections are evident in the eight series by Hiroshi Sugimoto presented here, spanning five decades of creative output from the late 1970s to the early 2020s.
