✨ Tribute to Miguel Ángel Gea

When I was 14, I had a conversation with Miguel Ángel Gea where I told him I’d read about the Coin Through Table routine in The Five Points in Magic, by Juan Tamariz. With the naïve boldness of a clueless teenager, I said I thought the idea was better than the method. Oh, the audacity of ignorance! 😅
Gea gave me a solid list of reasons why the plot was incredible and wrapped it up by saying, “Try it in front of an audience and let me know.”
Some time later, I saw him perform it impromptu, standing up, for a group of people who’d asked him to do some magic—and he completely destroyed me. I lived the magic.
He fooled me! It was unbelievable. 🤯
In the rehearsal video I’m sharing, I’m not doing the impromptu version I usually perform. Instead, this is the one I use as an opener for a sequence of effects (hence the use of the Okito box and extra coins). But it’s just for you to see the main idea.
There are touches from Gea, bits I’ve gathered from other sources, and my own personal take on a couple of aspects that I think are fundamental.
Did you know this plot?
Do you perform it in your shows? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
