Getting the details right means getting paid right. 🔎

Join PPL and the Council Of Music Makers this Wednesday 24th from 5pm - 7pm, for a free session exploring why accurate metadata, performer roles and up-to-date registrations are essential for making sure music-makers receive the royalties they’re owed.

For artist managers, understanding this process is key - the information you provide can directly impact royalty payments.

Learn how label copy works, how roles are allocated, common mistakes to avoid, and best practices for keeping release data accurate and up to date.

Artists and songwriters must not be pressured into AI deals without meaningful consent. The MMF stands alongside music organisations globally in advocating for three key principles to shape fair and responsible AI-related music agreements:

🔒️ Consent & Control
📝Fair Compensation
💡 Clarity & Transparency

Across the global music industry, record companies and publishers are negotiating AI deals that could shape the future of music. Yet the artists and songwriters whose works, voices, performances, likenesses and creative identities make those deals valuable are not being meaningfully consulted.

We support innovation and recognise that AI can create new opportunities for music. However artists are not simply catalogue assets, and innovation cannot be used to override artists’ rights.

Meet Interland Music Management 💿️ 📈

Interland Music Management was set up in 2015 when founder Todd Interland left Elton John’s Rocket Music, where he had been CEO and a manager for many years.

The company’s client since Day 1 has been James Blunt, who has been managed by Todd Interland since 2002. Now the company also manage Bleach Lab and She’s In Parties, who were brought into the company by Emily Street, who is also a manager at Interland Music. The latest addition to the roster is singer/songwriter Freya Ridings, and is now co-managed by Todd and Emily.

MMF’s refreshed and revised Fan Data Guide is now available on our website, ahead of its launch later today at SXSW London X MMF Music Manager Mixer for Pro and Company members, hosted in partnership with BAND.

First published in 2019 as part of MMF’s Dissecting The Digital Dollar series, the guide has become an important resource for music managers looking to better understand, access and use fan data. This updated edition expands on the original guide’s practical advice around collecting, safeguarding and applying fan data across marketing, partnerships, contracts and artist strategy.

Originally written by Chris Cooke of CMU, Lisa Ward of Red Light Management, Jessie Scoullar of Wicksteed Works, Tom Burris and Peter Mason of Russells, the new version has been updated by MMF consultant Adam Webb, with further insights from Jessie, Lisa and Tom, alongside experts including James Patterson of ATC Group and Andy Blair of Reverb Data.

Aimed predominantly at independent managers, the guide is designed to support more informed, artist-led decision-making and help managers build stronger, more direct and longer-term relationships between artists and their audiences.
