On Wednesday March 11th, we hosted a book launch by our friend Naneishvili Nino – a renowned musician, ethnomusicologist, and director of the ensemble იალონი • Ialoni.
The book is called "O Grandmother, I’m Writing a Letter to You", and it’s a moving selection of Nino’s personal stories and recollections of her meetings with grandmothers in Georgia.
It was originally written in the Georgian and the Megrelian languages, translated into English, and beautifully illustrated by our very own Miranda Armour-Brown!
We asked Nino to read some extracts in Megrelian, and she kindly recorded this short video with healing prayers she chose from her book.

On Wednesday March 18th, Nino is running another similar event and a workshop in London.

We would like to share with you a very exciting new project by our dear friend Naneishvili Nino, a renowned Georgian musician, ethnomusicologist, and director of the ensemble იალონი • Ialoni. Nino has spent her life preserving Georgia’s ancient songs, leading concerts, and teaching the next generation of singers. Now she has written a deeply personal book "O Grandmother, I’m Writing a Letter to You", inspired by the songs and stories of Georgian grandmothers she met in remote mountain villages. It’s a moving reflection on love, resilience, and the wisdom passed between generations. Nino has already covered the translation, editing, and design herself, but she needs help to raise additional funds to print the book through her Kickstarter campaign. If you value culture, song, and heartfelt storytelling, please consider supporting Nino and helping her share this beautiful work with the world.
