Monumental exploration of the Côte D’Azur with Leon Morrocco. For the last five years, Leon Morrocco has worked extensively in the South of France, based in and around Nice, where he keeps a small apartment overlooking the old harbour. During that period, what began as a familiar engagement with the fishing harbours, boats and shoreline villages of the Mediterranean coast gradually shifted inland, towards the mountains that rise abruptly behind the sea. Opens this week until the 10th July!

Leon Morrocco - A studio on the Côte d’Azur.
Taking a small studio in the old harbour in Nice, Leon Morrocco followed the Mediterranean coast inland, making drawings and paintings of villages, terraces, and the stark, towering landscapes of the Alpes-Maritimes. Bringing together work from these five years, the exhibition reveals a period of intense activity and an artist’s continuing exhilaration in the shapes and colours of the Côte d’Azur.

The gallery was back exhibiting at Art Dubai this week twenty years after Ben Floyd and John Martin started the fair. Dubai came out in force to see art, talk art, buy art, pose (of course!) and party long after the doors closed. The gallery was back exhibiting at Art Dubai this week, twenty years after Ben Floyd and John Martin started the fair. Dubai came out in force to see art, talk art, buy art, pose (of course!) and party long after the doors closed.
It was incredible to be back for the anniversary, seeing friends who helped shape the region’s art scene into the powerhouse it has become. Here are some photos from the week, mixed with memories of Art Dubai taking its first steps twenty years ago.
