*** CANCELLATION STATEMENT ***

Yesterday our Pop Up Fete ‘The Invitation’ was pulled MID event by the event manager at 45 London, Shoreditch.

We arrived beforehand, set up & started playing music for 8pm as advertised. An hour & a half into our event; the event manager approached a team member asking ‘where are all the people?’. Even though he was given information beforehand; our team member explained to him again that the majority of our ticket sales came via paid tickets which had an 11:30pm last entry time, opposed to the 50 free before 9:30pm tickets (all of which was agreed & communicated weeks before the event).

Our team member reassured him that indeed people were coming (and started arriving whilst we were having this conversation) and we had sold 120 tickets (the room capacity is 150). The event manager proceeded, to say that up until this point (an hour and half into our event that was scheduled to finish at 2am), we barely made any money and that he was bringing the party he had from the rooftop upstairs, down into the room we had along with their DJs (this was a Latin House event), leaving us with no alternative at beyond the 11th hour!

Let us be clear; this is not how we do business at all! Unfortunately, this is one of the many issues black event organisers face in London. The event manager wanted us to bring our cultural events to his club programming since December. This date and the use of the space was agreed MONTHS in advance. To be told MID event that he’ll be bringing another party in to use the space we were booked for is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. We do not take this lightly.

We sincerely apologise to all of or patrons that bought tickets, left out to make their way to the venue & those that actually arrived. Refunds have been issued to all ticket holders via Eventbrite. Over the next coming days we’ll be sending out an email to ticket holders with a special offer for an upcoming event.
