What do you take with you when forced to leave your home because of war? On 13 August 1974 Lorna Eleonora Vassiliades began a new diary titled Dramatic Days. Exactly 50 years later, she revisits her past as a child refugee, in a heartfelt embodiment of loss. This poignant journey of diaspora begins in London followed b

y Essex in the 60s, and continues to the Eastern Mediterranean coastal town of Famagusta, Cyprus in the 70s. Lorna, a once lonely and bullied child, finds belonging and joy in her parents' hometown, only for this to be abruptly stolen by the Turkish invasion. Expect a deeply moving solo theatre show about personal and collective trauma, that is a call for justice and peace for all. An exhibition will feature the items the artist and her parents took with them on the early evening of 13 August 1974 when they suddenly left. Q&A with Journalist Vasoula Christodoulou 14 August

This is one of our favourite photos from the exhibition which accompanied the show💙 A young man absorbed in looking at the items taken by displaced Famagustians exactly 50 years ago, studying the accompanying text 🙏

In a solo show it may seem that only the person on stage is involved and present, and sometimes this is the case 🎭 With The Suitcase there are three perspectives that you see on stage, pictured here after taking our collective bow: movement/assistant director Despoina Christianoudi writer-performer Lorna Eleonora Vassiliades and director Pedro A. We made a show and exhibition with love ❤️

We wanted to create a community event 🙏 It started with our own connection to each other 🪷

Thank you to everyone who came, and thank you to all of you here who have liked and shared posts 🥰 We are a tiny team with limited resources and your support has been brilliant 🥳

We were almost full on our first night, and sold out for the next two nights 🌙 Our exhibition was super busy 🙌 And there wasn't a 'koupa' left 😀

Thank you to everyone who cried and shared their story afterwards 🙏 Resilience and community come through this sharing 🤗

Watch this space for more news and developments🙆‍♀️ The Suitcase team have plans 🧳
