Today, we join Good Chance Theatre and 10 other brilliant venues and organisations across the UK for the launch of - a training initiative supporting creatives from displaced backgrounds to build careers in the arts industry.

We’re thrilled to announce the role of a new Social Media and Content Creation Trainee who will sit across our Creative Development, and Marketing & Communications teams to help amplify the impactful work we do here at Hackney Empire!

Empire Nights with Jamali Maddix just got more exciting as Kurupt FM (Out of context Kurupt FM) headlines our incredible night as we celebrate the artists shaping contemporary British culture. 🥳

Expect a headline finale from Seapa, MC Beats and Steves, bringing together UK Garage, Drum & Bass and Grime. With big tunes, big personalities and a proper Kurupt FM takeover, it’s set to be a night to remember.

Set in contemporary inner-city marginalised migrant communities, and loosely based on Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba, Amina Khayyam Dance Company ( ) brings us the story that follows Bibi Rukiya, a widow who confines her three daughters in response to societal pressure to protect her family’s reputation and secure their marriages, but not all of her daughters are happy about this.

Five decades. One stage. One unforgettable night. 🤩

In May, we celebrated the sounds and artists that have defined Black British music across generations. From Back to Life, Crazy Love, Flowers, Where Love Lives and You to Me Are Everything, the night was packed with classics, brought to life by Chineke! Orchestra, the LJ Singers and an incredible line-up of guest artists.

BBC Radio 2’s Trevor Nelson and DJ Spoony hosted the celebration, and were joined by Alison Limerick , Elisabeth Troy, Rhoda Dakar, Courtney Pine and more. Check out the images and relive the energy, the music and the good vibes they brought to Hackney. 💛
