⁉️ WHAT'S BEING PROPOSED? ⁉️
The Data (Use and Access) Bill, which aims to balance the interests of the UK creative industries and the AI sector. The bill will attempt to cover these points; a) technical solutions to allow rightsholders to manage their rights in the context of AI, b) how AI companies can best access the data they say they need, c) transparency, d) licensing.

📖 WHAT'S IN THE BILL SO FAR? 📖
1️⃣ Creators need to opt-out
AI developers can use copyrighted material for training purposes unless creators explicitly opt out. This shifts the burden to creators to protect their works, rather than requiring AI companies to seek permission.
2️⃣ 'The TDM Exception'
AI is allowed to use any copyrighted works for training purposes, even if they haven't secured explicit permission from the content's creators - as long as they secured the material lawfully and they haven't opted-out.
3️⃣ More transparency (just been blocked by ministers)
AI developers need to be open about the data they're using. This includes disclosing the specific works and datasets involved, so trust can be built between AI and creative world.

😳 WHAT'S THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES' REACTION? 😳
In a nutshell, not good enough. Lots of household name musicians, actors, artists and other creatives have publicly expressed their anger and frustration.
These proposals have sparked significant debate, with concerns about their potential impact on creators' rights, economic interests and the broader cultural landscape.
The creative industries has also highlighted the lack of urgency and clear timeline for when the government aims to bring in these protection laws.

⚠️ WHAT'S THE LATEST? ⚠️
The bill is being debated in parliament. Ministers have just blocked the transparency amendment to the bill (despite House of Lords passing it). Ministers cited 'financial privilege' as the reason for its removal (in this context they mean there is no budget available for new regulations).
Data minister (Chris Bryant) defended the blocking - he argues that changes needed to be completed 'in the round and not just piecemeal' (?). He also stated that the sooner the data bill was passed, the quicker he would be able to make progress on updating copyright law.

Hours spent scrolling through Apple Support trying to work out why the brand new Mac is not responding to Chrome, and other applications, only to find the answer on Reddit!
I mean the IT department (Yes- poor unpaid Greg!) has better things to be doing 😾

The answer: Don’t use Windows Migrate onto IOS. If you already have you need to “factory reset”
