Cinders Drury Lane

Cinders Drury Lane Cinderella Boom Or Bust was in 2013 and is no longer playing. Thank you for your interest. Get ready to rock!

West London's best loved amateur dramatic pantomime specialist, Back End Productions, is back with a brand new panto Cinderella - "Boom or Bust!". Giving money to charity has never been such naughty fun! Cinderella - "Boom or Bust!" is a unique and very modern fairytale pantomime for grown ups. The show conforms to all the traditional panto stereotypes but also goes a little bit further! This one

night charity show will be performed by a group of 50 the UK's finest amateur performers from all walks of life as cast members, supported by a chorus of semi-professional dancers and singers. With lots of humour and innuendo this will be the perfect pantomime for those who, like another famous panto character, never grew up. This brand new witty, farcical, and at times a little bit sexy, pantomime presents the whirlwind of Ugly Sisters, Fairly Good Mothers, slippers and pantomime horse burgers. The audience is set to be surprised with a mixture of situation comedy and contemporary material with a grown up "Carry On" tone. Since foundation, Back End Productions has raised over £250,000! Profits from this year's production will be donated to The SilverLining, a charity helping brain injured people rebuild their lives.

It is a testament to the writing, direction, production and performances of this show, that it endures in the memory of so many - those involved and those in the audience.

Also, a great deal of money was raised for Charity.

Featuring songs from classic musicals including Hello Dolly, Mame, Mack and Mabel and La Cage Aux Folles, Jerry’s Girls brings together an all-female cast to celebrate Jerry’s special gift for writing songs that capture the true spirit of the great American musical, honouring the legacy of the multi Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist of some of the greatest Broadway musicals of all time.

Jerry Herman’s many Broadway shows include Hello Dolly, Mame, Dear World, Mack & Mabel, The Grand Tour and La Cage Aux Folles. His string of awards and honours includes multiple Tony, Grammy, Olivier and Drama Desk Awards, the Johnny Mercer Award, the Richard Rodgers Award, the Oscar Hammerstein Award, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Theatre Hall of Fame. Jerry also has the distinction of being the only composer-lyricist in history to have three musicals run for more than 1,500 performances on Broadway.

Created by Jerry Herman and collaborator Larry Alford in 1981, Jerry’s Girls originated as a modest cabaret presentation at Onstage, a nightclub located in New York’s theatre district in midtown-Manhattan. After La Cage Aux Folles opened to rave reviews two years later, a full-scale, all-star production was mounted which opened at Broadway’s St. James Theatre in 1985 with a cast including Chita Rivera, who received a Tony-Award nomination for her performance.

I am on the Production Team for a new musical and an Irish play, to be produced by Katy Lipson of Aria Entertainment in Angel, Islington.

Aria Entertainment is proud to present a double-bill of Marina Carr’s Portia Coughlan and a new musical The Verb, ‘To Love’ at The Old Red Lion Theatre from the end of April until the end of May.

The Verb ‘To Love’ runs 29 April - 23 May 2015, 7pm and 2pm Matinees. (£14/£12)

We are delighted to be presenting the world premiere of new musical, The Verb, ‘To Love’ by Andy Collyer.

Simon is lost, abandoned by James, his partner of twenty-three years. He is alone for the first time, until he finds Ben, the great love of his life, a young man seventeen years his junior, and finds himself rejuvenated and fulfilled in a way he never knew possible. They share the complications of falling in love, undergoing upheavals and experiencing change, until it all falls apart. But does it?

Directed by Jonathan O’Boyle (Bash Latterday Plays,Trafalgar Studios, Made in Britain, Old Red Lion and Assistant Director of The Scottsboro Boys), The Verb, ‘To Love’ is an intimate new LGBTQ musical exploring the complications of changing relationships, and the power of different kinds of love; ‘The verb ‘to love’ has so many meanings…’

Producer Katy Lipson of Aria Entertainment comments: It's so wonderful to have the opportunity to present a double bill at The Old Red Lion Theatre next season. Both play and musical are dramatic and bold pieces of theatre and I hope our audiences will gain something memorable by their experience at our productions.

The Verb, ‘To Love’ is supported by Grant for the Arts.

Portia Coughlan runs 28 April – 23 May 2015, 8.45pm and 3.45pm Matinees. (£16/£14)

Running in tandem with The Verb, ‘To Love’ is Portia Coughlan is a ferocious, haunting and beautiful Irish tale by Marina Carr, writer of By The Bog of Cats, The Mai and Ullaloo.

Portia Coughlan lives in a monstrous limbo, haunted by a yearning for her spectral twin brother lying at the bottom of the Belmont River, unable to find any love for her wealthy husband and children, seeking solace in soulless affairs, deeply afraid of what she might do. Written to celebrate the centenary of Dublin's National Maternity Hospital, Portia Coughlan packs a hell of a punch. It hurts to look at it. But it has to be seen. (Irish Independent). Last performed at The Royal Court Theatre in 1996, this exciting revival at the Old Red Lion is directed by Bronagh Lagan (RAGS - In Concert, Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, Girlfriends, Union Theatre and Henry VI Part 1, Rose Theatre, Bankside).
