Johannes Brahms, one of the most revered composers of the romantic period began composing from the age of 11. He had a penchant for the outdoors and often looked to nature for a source of inspiration with his "walking holidays". Seventy-seven years ago, the orchestra (the then Palestine Orchestra) performed a special Chanukah concert. All proceeds were dedicated to youth centers of Brith Hamaccabim – Atid, and the program booklet cost 20 mills (one thousand mills = one Palestine Pound). The program was especially varied and rich: Hatikvah, Maoz Tzur, opening words by Moshe Chelouche, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 6 (“Pathétique”), intermission and another three works.

The orchestra continues to perform these works to this day, but most of the companies and stores advertised in the booklet cannot be found anymore…

Dumitru Poticari(Dima) a young concertmaster in a top orchestra, can already look back on a highly successful international career, winning numerous prizes and participating in prestigious masterclasses worldwide. He, not only regularly leads in our orchestra but is also an avid chamber musician performing with musical giants such as Martha Argeric, et al.

Remarkably, he performed as a soloist under the baton of Zubin Mehta in the annual Gala Concert of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music Symphony Orchestra and a 'Concert in Jeans' with the Israel Philharmonic before joining the IPO in 2014.
