Hosting on the day will be The Red Lion Ballroom, All You Read Is Love, and The Luna Lounge, with more unique spaces to be announced very soon.

Shake The High Road is an independent music festival in Leytonstone, East London, returning Saturday 8 May 2027 across various spaces in the vicinity of Leytonstone High Road. Shake The High Road is a brand new music festival arriving in Leytonstone, East London on Saturday May 27th 2017 across several venues all in the vicinity of Leytonstone High Road. SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD returns to Leytonstone! After an amazing day of music in E11 over the Bank Holiday weekend in May, we're absolutely buzzing to announce that SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD will return next year on SATURDAY 8 MAY 2027!

As well as keeping all the vibe that made this year's event so special, we're also going to introduce some very special new spaces and surprises for the day - we're already so excited about bringing this all to our beloved Leytonstone!

Before we drop some BIG news about 2027's edition of 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 in the next few days, a throwback to one of this year's biggest sets!

𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 brought his killer new album 'Ton Up' for a heavy live session in the iconic Red Lion Ballroom - what a night this was!

A huge congrats to 𝐊𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐒 for their Mercury Prize nomination for 2026! The Newcastle band, who played 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐃 in 2024 (📸) are one of the finest jazz acts in the land and recent album 'A Great Day In Newcastle' is an absolute masterpiece - we're delighted they've been rightfully recognised! 👏🎉

LEYTONSTONE THIS WEEKEND! A beautiful local music event happening this Saturday from our friends at 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰!

Daylight have once again joined forces with the Hebridean record label 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 (run by the wonderful 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹) to present a magical summer showcase in the ever-welcoming space of St John’s Leytonstone.

This event is part of 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 and 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 and they're inviting artists and audiences to leave their mark on the afternoon. Everyone who comes into the space will be invited to join in various activities: drawing or making alongside contemplating the music.

There are yet two more layers to the afternoon of creativity: a rare chance to experience live drawing to music from and - artists and illustrators who are members of the Lost Map’s ensemble . And if that wasn’t enough, setting the mood and filling the space as we relax into our seats will be multi-instrumentalist

Recorded live at 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗, an insightful and fascinating podcast from the 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 '𝗻' 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 team - 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝘀 featuring with the one and only 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗻 (🔗𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗶𝗼🔗)

John Altman’s uncles were big band conductors at the London Palladium so John grew up around the likes of Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong & Jack Benny.

At a young age he played with the likes of Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green, John Martyn, Nick Drake and Kevin Ayers. He joined Hot Chocolate and jammed with Jimi Hendrix, have a laugh with Freddie Mercury and have Muddy Waters attend his 21st.

John had a key role in Monty Python's 'Life Of Brian' spinoff hit 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life', and the Beatles spoof 'The Rutles'. He had a hand in James Bond in 'Goldeneye' as well as 'Titanic', which became the biggest movie of all time at that point. We hear about a frantic phone call from James Cameron during its making!

In the late 90s, the 10 Room Club was founded in London and picked up once Lionel Richie and Chaka Khan turned up and played. In the coming years it hosted the likes of Nas, Kanye West, John Legend, Backstreet Boys, Ja Rule, Wycliffe Jean, Joss Stone & Amy Winehouse! We hear about proposed albums with Amy Winehouse & Dusty Springfield which didn't come to fruition, and if that isn’t enough, Altman throws in stories about Prince, Bjork, and working on George Michael’s 'Faith' for good measure!

The first live recordings were broadcast on 𝗕𝗕𝗖 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 and they sound stunning - check out three beautiful songs from 𝗜𝘇𝘇𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 live at 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 via BBC Sounds (🔗𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗶𝗼🔗)

𝗜𝘇𝘇𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 - A unique blend of neo/contemporary soul with a pop influence draws comparisons to artists like Corinne Bailey Rae, Olivia Dean, and Lily Allen.

And that's not all - 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝘆 who also played the stage, is the BBC Introducing Featured Artist of the week!

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU! ❤️

I'll be back this week with a deeper reliving of the festival with lots more photos and highlights from an incredible day and night in E11 (and some special thanks for key people that I couldn't have done without!)

But for now... a huge round of applause to the fantastic artists that brought the vibes 👏 all the SHAKE THE HIGH ROAD staff who helped made it tick 👏 our wonderful local venues for their support! 👏. And ultimately to all the party-people who joined us for the day and created such a special atmosphere, thank you so much for bringing such amazing energy to E11! 👏
