Cadogan Gallery is an independent, family-run art gallery based in South Kensington, London. Founded by Christopher Burness in 1980, the gallery has worked closely with generations of collectors and established and critically acclaimed artists for forty years. After a few years in Pont Street, the gallery moved close to Draycott Avenue, SW3, where it remained for 20 years gaining prominence, royal

patronage and developing its catalogue of artists. In 2007 Cadogan Contemporary moved to the Old Brompton Road in South Kensington. Since joining in 2014, Freddie Burness has built on the heritage and strong foundations of the gallery, adding a new international perspective to its distinctive program. With an artist focussed approach and a clear aesthetic identity, the gallery represents both long established artists that have evolved with us since the gallery's founding, as well as a new generation of emerging artists. Our regular programme of exhibitions in London is complemented by the recent launch of a new temporary exhibition space in Hampshire in 2021. This has provided an opportunity to pursue curate large-scale projects and installations.

We is pleased to announce “Stray Effects”, the first presentation of artworks by Fritz Chesnut now on view at Cadogan Solo, the street-view window gallery located just outside of our Milan space.

Fritz Chesnut’s paintings are fields of action. The LA-based artist builds his works from vibrating moiré patterns and grids that appear torn, aged, decayed. Far from flat, each line is a physical thread. An alchemist of process, Chesnut squeegees paint onto plastic, then cuts and transfers the dried skins onto canvas. The result is tensile, a surface hovering between image and structure, textile and digital screen.

Richard Hearns lives and works in the Burden, County Clare, Ireland.

His paintings are informed and inspired by the landscape that surrounds him. In preparation for an upcoming exhibition in our London gallery in September, Hearns carried some of his new paintings onto the mountain to show this connection.

For more information about this upcoming exhibition from the Irish-Lebanese artist, please DM or email us.
