When asked by his grandchildren what was in the dusty old chest in the attic, the old man recalled a story from the deepest and darkest of winters long ago.
Whilst battle rages across Europe and as Napoleon advances east, in a creaky shack, in a remote village, a puppet maker struggles to find fuel for the fire and to pay for food for his table. To survive he contemplates selling some of his collection of priceless and exquisite mannequins, but which ones? At the back of the workshop, the little figures live in fear of the arrival of the dreaded “Collector” until one day, a rag doll appears and their little world will never be the same again.
The old man’s story is full of love and adventure, laughter and romance but something is not quite right. What is in that rusty old chest and who dares to find out?
