On Sunday 12th June 2016, we awoke to hear of a fatal attack on Pulse Nightclub, Florida.

As we commemorated our 25th anniversary a decade ago in London, our siblings’ lives were taken from them while they danced in Orlando.

Ten years later as we see rhetoric against our community increasing once more, we continue to sing in defiance.

We sing to remind people we will not stay silent while our community is under threat, and for those of us who can sing no longer.

Volunteers have always been at the heart of our movement. This Volunteering Week we’re celebrating how volunteering keeps our community stronger together, and challenges those that oppress us.

When the world turned its back on men with HIV/AIDS, le***an siblings reminded the world that everyone deserves humanity.
Holding a hand when no family would, providing care when doctors wouldn’t, watching over homes and pets when patients couldn’t.

The wonderful Blood Sisters in San Diego led the blood donation drive to support treatment. Lesbus (now Shirley’s Removals) helped transport men and their possessions in London when no one else would. Le****ns also politically advocated for better care to those with HIV/AIDS under the Thatcher government.

All as volunteers, all while facing the same stigma and bigotry themselves, and the intense misogyny where women were often excluded from diagnosis and subsequent care.

THANK YOU to all our volunteers, past and present, for bringing humanity where it’s missing and reminding us we can all be part of the change we want to see in the world. Especially right now.

“Everyone brought together through song”

As our show MOMENTus draws to a close, marking 35 years of keeping our community visible, heard, safe, and inclusive, we are once again saddened that others are making decisions about our community, who we are, and what we do.

These are our decisions. We all decide. We all belong.

We will always resist when the love we have found across our beautiful and diverse community is threatened by division.

What does the LGMC mean to you?
Everything, it’s my life line, the space I got sober and also made friends for life and just being able to be myself, quirks and all.

What has been a key LGMC moment for you?
Standing on stage doing the speaking bit in ‘Vogue’ in full leather, showing how far I have come since addiction to now being sober and happy.

Why should you come see MOMENTus?
To celebrate 35 years of the chorus with an amazing look back, and also my 10 years anniversary with them. It’s been one hell of a ride!”
