📣 We are delighted to announce that Protein’s latest dance film, The Show Is Ours, premieres 12 August 2026 at 2pm on

📍Public screening: General Gordon Square Big Screen, Woolwich

🍿 Online screening - YouTube Premiere (link in bio)

🎬 The film was created with and for students from Newhaven School in Greenwich, and it’s performed alongside Protein’s dance artists Luis Dunn and Rachele Rapisardi.

🏫 Newhaven School is an alternative education provision for children who are not able to attend school and may not otherwise receive suitable education; young people excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream school; students with a diagnosis of autism and those with severe and enduring psychological health difficulties.

🙆🏾‍♂️ Part of Protein’s Real Life Real Dance inclusion programme, the film was made in March 2026 over a three-week creation period Tramshed in Woolwich. Influenced by Border Tales, created by Luca Silvestrini in 2013, exploring themes of multiculturalism and identity, The Show Is Ours is the third film of an acclaimed trilogy that has brought together director Luca Silvestrini, film maker Alice Underwood Films and composer Andy Pink composer (This Is Us, 2021; But I Am, 2023).

“The biggest thing I’ve learnt is to not listen to other people’s opinions and just be yourself.” Year 10 Student

“I cannot express how amazing this opportunity has been for our students. It has been an experience that I know they will not forget and will always talk about.” Headteacher

Funded by: Newhaven School, Royal Borough of Greenwich, The Robert Gavron Charitable Trust, Sir William Boreman’s Foundation, The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, The Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation

In loving memory of Andy Newman 🌹

Andy was a phenomenal performer, artist, and much-loved member of EncoreEast and of the wider dance community. His passion for dance, creativity, and his generosity touched so many lives, and it was a privilege to share the stage and collaborate with him over the years alongside Protein Dance and Luca Silvestrini (The Sun Inside, Me My Body and I, Home from Home).

Today we remember Andy by sharing the link of Me, My Body & I – a film created during the global pandemic by the inspiring independent company of older dancers, EncoreEast. Watch here: https://youtu.be/3m9CbR5AbGk?si=NcLCT-v47vvbfeI-

Originally developed as part of Protein 21 Reimagine, the project found new life when Protein and transformed an interrupted stage production, reimagining Protein’s Dear Body, into a beautiful film, with each dancer creating their own responses from home.

Andy’s artistry, warmth, and spirit shine through this work and will continue to inspire everyone who knew him 🙏

Created by Stuart Waters in collaboration with film maker Alice Underwood Films featuring Andy Newman, Anna Mortimer, Bobbie Clarke, Carol Johnson, Di Gooding, Diego Robirosa, Donna Brenchley, Jackie Marshall-Ward, Jeanette Siddall, Ju Williamson, Lyn Matthews, Margaret Williamson, Pam Candler, Rowena Morris-Denholm, Stella Eldon and Sue Sinclair.

Rest in peace, Andy. You will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever part of our dance family 🧡
