Gallery rosenfeld is excited to announce our upcoming exhibition 'The Adventures of Bear Lache and his Friends'; the first UK solo exhibition of the Romanian artist Ioana Maria Sisea.

This new exhibition will contain thirty six ceramic sculptures which will recount a very significant episode in Romania’s recent history when the dictator Ceausescu was ruling the country.

Ioana Maria Sisea is a multi-disciplinary artist who works in sculpture, painting, performance and installation. The artist first exhibited in the gallery as one of the four artists in the group show, ’Introducing: Nuno Gil, Dene Leigh, Lydia Makin and Ioana Maria Sisea’. On that occasion, she presented a series of painted terracotta sculptures all of which continued to develop her fascination with the western obsession with ‘desire’ as seen by someone living in Eastern Europe. In her work, she achieves the very difficult feat of combining humour with an acute political and social commentary.

‘Re-Inventing Piet. Mondrian and the Consequences’ opens tomorrow 's work ‘Splash’ is will be featured in this exhibition.
From clothing and cosmetics packaging to watches, T‑shirts, bags, and even entire façades of buildings—who is not familiar with the catchy and quickly recognizable design of everyday objects which are based as uninhibitedly and bluntly appropriate the abstract compositions of one of the most important artists of the twentieth century: Piet Mondrian. Time and again, he called for art and life to be linked; and indeed, his works and their variations have visually invaded countless areas of life. Based on works from his most important creative period, the exhibition offers an insight into the multifaceted exploration of Piet Mondrian’s main neoplastic work through around 150 artworks and objects._Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg

✨Announcement✨

Gallery rosenfeld is thrilled to announce the representation of Ioana Maria Sisea.

works at the borderline between various mediums of artistic expression such as ceramics, drawing, installation, sculpture and video.

“I am interested in the extreme states of being that we are taught to aspire to by Western media that if sustained over time create insanity. Luxury, fame, extreme wealth, hyper-sexuality and other physical sensations not felt in ordinary life by ordinary people; the intersection points between capitalism-induced desire, exclusivity, materialism, and violence. I explore these topics through myths, symbols, rituals, editorials, internet memes and posts, autobiography, paparazzi photos, and other incidental records of personal experience."

The artist's new body of sculpture works will be presented in her first solo exhibition in the gallery beginning on the 13th of April entitled 'The Adventures of Bear Lache and his Friends.'
