On Saturday, July 11th, something truly magical happened at the top of London. 🌆🕯️

As part of this year’s Opus One Summer Music Festival, we had the absolute pleasure to hosting the incredible Laura Farré Rozada Laura Farré Rozada for an intimate, twilight piano recital inside the iconic St Pancras Clocktower. 🎹✨ The energy of the evening was unreal. Laura’s program, Araspel (“myth” / “fable”), took us on a breathtaking journey from Debussy’s Impressionism to the deeply mystical sounds of Armenia and Bulgaria - including FIVE UK Premieres! 🎶

Swipe ➡️ to catch a glimpse of the magic high above the city skyline.

A massive thank you to Laura for her brilliant artistry, to the St Pancras Clocktower, and to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable night. ❤️

"La musique est le silence entre les notes."
— Claude Debussy

The opening of Première Rhapsodie is unlike anything else in the clarinet repertoire.

It invites us into a world where colour precedes melody, light dissolves into sound, and every phrase feels like a brushstroke on an Impressionist canvas. Nothing is declared. Everything is suggested.

For the clarinettist, these opening pages demand the rare ability to shape a single, endlessly evolving line — allowing the sound to breathe, shimmer and transform as if it had no beginning and no end.

This is Debussy at his most elusive: music suspended between dream and reality, where silence is as expressive as sound itself.

A few moments from our live performance at Duke's Hall, Royal Academy of Music, London, with the wonderful Professor Julian Jacobson. Julian Jacobson

Fermez les yeux…

Bienvenue dans l'univers de Debussy.

✨ Looking back at a magical opening day - Exactly one week ago, we officially kicked off the 2026 Opus One Summer Music Festival with our opening concert, Postcard from London, inside the breathtaking, historic sanctuary of St Mary Le Strand! 🏛️🎻
We are still on a high from the incredible energy, the soaring acoustics, and the sheer talent that graced the stage. Here is a little look back at the moments that made our opening day so unforgettable:
🎹 The Solo Piano Showcase: Our young keyboard artists took us on a journey through the classics. From 14-year-old Angel Verdera’s Scarlatti, to 9-year-old Haruki Awoonor playing Tailleferre, and 13-year-old Dorcas Yang’s brilliant Haydn.
✨ The Rising Generation: Luke Stepanyak (violin) and Anxo Garcia (piano) delivered an incredibly sensitive and poetic performance of Prokofiev’s Five Melodies.
🇫🇷 A Faculty Masterclass: Cellist Kirsten Jenson and Professor Julian Jacobson mesmerized the room with a passionate, colorful performance of Debussy’s Cello Sonata—foreshadowing our upcoming festival journey across the Channel!
🔮 The Grand Finale: We closed the afternoon with contemporary magic. Nohl captivated us with the UK Premiere of her solo piano piece, Crystal, before being joined on stage by the brilliant violinist Leyla Fey for an impromptu finish.

A massive thank you to our incredible performers, our wonderful audience, and the team at St Mary Le Strand. While our home is now firmly based in the UK, we are so proud of our Montreal roots to see Avery Zhao-Djokic from Art Crush ensemble/d’art joining us, and absolutely thrilled to see this dual-city season come to life!
